Hey guys...I’m still after em. It’s getting tough here in Marion County. The birds have gotten a case of the tight lip the past week or so. I’ve heard two different birds this morning and both went silent when they hit the ground.
I had much rather be tried by twelve than carried to my grave by six!!!!

Been a tough season. Henned up just about every morning. One morning last week heard 342 gobbles. Heard 4 gobbles this morning, only one was close glad i didn't chase after him otherwise would have blown it. This one I got I saw twice before. About a week ago he pitched off the roost away from me and kept moving off my property. About 2 weeks ago he snuck up on me and busted me listening. He didn't like to gobble on the roost and he didn't this morning. Was roosted with 5+ hens. 2 hens pitched out away from me and I gave a couple soft yelps after each pitched down. Another hen pitched away as well and I clucked and purred. Within a minute or two I head a little flapping and a thud. He hit the ground 40 yds away, did a partial strut and drummed a bit. Had to wait for him to go behind a tree and get the gun up. Dropped him like a stone at 30 yds. First kill with TSS and the new 20 ga Yildiz Youth O/U. Got 3 days left up here and couple birds still around, so maybe I can up my score. Lack of spurs hurts that score but I am happy as a clam to get him. Team 10 Slughunter 4/30/20 18 lbs 15 oz 9.5 in beard No spurs. NWTF Score: 37.9375

Congratulations. I should still get to hunt a few more days in other states. I finished up today here at home. Managed to get a few myself. I will post mine up before it’s over with. Hope to get some upgrades. Mostly encounter 2 year olds this year. But it’s been great.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

Well at least I put the one up on the board. Other years I've participated I didn't score at all. 27 hunts approx 1900 gobbles; I participate in the state avid turkey survey so I count gobbles every hunt. Spent 75% of my hunts on my lease which will be my place in a couple weeks when we close on the purchase. Glad we pulled the trigger on purchasing this place, been leasing it for nearly 30 years. It is a hell of a turkey property for only 120 acres. Usually at least one 4-5 yo buck each year too.
Time for the post season hangover. Though, I'm tempted to try and hunt TN this weekend but never been up there and I've got a ton of projects that got put off while I hunted last month. Start prepping for deer season next weekend; that will ease my mind.
Good luck guys still hunting in other states.

Got one in Kentucky this week. Not sure if I will get any or many more days in the spring woods.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.
