Took a friend snagging for spoonbill this morning. His first time ever snagging for spoonbill, he got a 48 pound female and a 39 pound female. I snagged a 43 pound male and a 34 pound male. We got there about 8:15am and I had my limit of two by 9:15am. I let him use my 10 foot rod instead of my 8 footer. He got his first one at 9:30 and the second at 10:15.

Y'all slaying 'em Donald!! What river are snatching them out of, the Mighty MO?

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

How do you do it. Just blind cast and drag a treble hook?

Mike is wore the slap out from fighting the fish. Said he wanted to go again tomorrow. Probably get down there about 9am and fish until 11. It is a 95 mile round trip from my house.

Yes William we eat them, the meat is a white firm flaky meat when cooked.

Dixiepatriot is correct on the river. The Osage River, 1.3 miles below Bagnell Dam. Lake of The Ozarks like as in the series Ozark. This is the Lake and River I grew up on up until my early 20's

jlbuc10 , yes blind casting with a 2oz - 8oz sinker and 2 8/0-12/0 treble hooks and snatch back to the bank. Sometimes when you snag one, you would think you were snagged on a log.

The reason the fish are tied together like that, is because we use our stringer for a sling. Sling the center of the rope over a shoulder for the 300 yard walk back to the road.

Donald I had never heard of eating spoonbill when you originally posted about snagging them. So I did some reading on it and saw where several people said you had to pull the spinal cord out of them right after catching them for the meat to be good. Do you do that? That sounded odd to me.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

That’s some dang fine eating. I’ve had them smoked for several hours and it’s the whitest, flakiest delicate meat there is. Tasty too. Right up there with alligator gar backstrap.
