demp17 OP 10 point Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 3,836 North Bama	After a couple misses during youth season my son finally got his first turkey, a super Jake. Him and his buddy been running all the gobblers off but this guy ran up to the wrong hen today. Kids and I took off up a mountain and circled around some fields below. I did some light calling but couldn't hear anything due to all the water coming off the mountain, kids and I slipped down the mountain a little and setup in a fairly thick area. My daughter sat down, then I sat down then my son. While I was getting my daughter setup I look up and see 2 heads quickly coming up the mountain. Told my son to grab his gun and get ready they were fixing to be on us. Well they got there quick and got to within 20 yards before my son saw them. He got his Mossberg up and let it eat, those 9.5s TSS slung that jake about 5 feet back, looked like something in a movie.. my son said that bullet power slammed him... All in all we sat down down for maybe a total of 30 seconds. I guess it was so thick the turkey couldn't see us not we them.
