visited a buddy who's good at tying on serving -- he dressed up the joints for me, and I hunted with the call this morning ... in the woods, all i can say is -- *wow*! this will become a regular part of my call arsenal moving forward

If you buddy didn't coat the threading with clear fingernail polish you may want to do that to keep it from abrasion and unwrapping.

thx man; i’ve used it several times now & the birds haven’t bolted away from it 😂🤣 stumbled onto a 3 part instructional series by Marlin Watkins on YouTube; his tips are gold & have unlocked the call for me ... it’ll be a while before i’m as good as him — if ever — but the calling on it now is serviceable

with it raining today, my plan is to wear it out, practicing

I’ve made a few the last couple seasons just to play around with, but had never taken one to the woods until this season. The first time I tried it on a gobbling bird, I ain’t gonna lie, I couldn’t even make a sound! I was trying to stay soft and low with it and just couldn’t get anything going. Lol. The combination of an accelerated heartbeat, being out of breath from the climb, and trying to call softly just wasn’t working. I had to sit there several minutes to calm down before I could even run the call. My youngest son finally killed that bird after we changed sets several times. I did not finish the bird with the wing bone, but enticed several answers from him over the course of the hunt. My oldest son finished up his limit yesterday solely with a wing bone I made for him. That was pretty cool. He sounds better on his than I on mine. They’re certainly a unique sound in a world of mouth calls. If anyone hasn’t tried it, it’s a fun project that seems to work really well.

PH, get on YouTube & visit Marlin Watkins channel - its labeled “JBY220” & his 1st video in a 3 part series is called “Yelper Instructional Session #1” ... really pay attention to his tips on how to place the call on your lips & how to hold the call ... there’s another channel called “del crow” & his video is called “trumpet instruction part 1” - he’s also got some good tips

the Zach Farmer vids are cool/good but i cannot get the call to sound right in the middle of my lips; i run it off-center on both sides
