Side by sides, etc. Should be banned on all WMAs in the state for any reason. That is all.

I thought they already were? At least, they're not allowed on Oakmulgee, to my knowledge

Wish they were banned for turkey hunting. Guys in our club will ride the damn things all over the place at daylight and wonder why they don’t hear birds!

Exactly. The lazy “hunters” who just ride down the road on those loud things and then crank them off just long enough to hit a few 15 note yelps on their box call before cranking it back up really baffle me. I really truly wonder what these guys are thinking. Because most of them won’t step off that 4 wheeler more than one hundred yards even if a bird does gobble.

“For any person except authorized personnel to operate any motor driven vehicle behind, under or around any locked gate, barricaded road or sign which prohibits vehicular traffic.”
“For any unauthorized person to possess and/or operate any unlicensed motor driven vehicle on any WMA, except when utilized for the expressed purpose of retrieving game animals, traveling to and from a hunting location, or other hunting related activity. Any other recreational use of any unlicensed motor driven vehicle on any WMA is prohibited.”

These are the only two rules in regards to an unlicensed motor driven vehicle I can find. The loop hole here is the several trails on a lot of WMAs that do not have a no vehicle sign, closed gate etc. Any body who knows the tiniest bit about turkey hunting ought to know that an old road bed/trail that is secluded going through hardwoods is usually a really good place to find turkeys, which also makes it a really good place to drive a 4 wheeler into and bump all the turkeys off of it.

. That was my thought at Lowndes WMA.

I'm not much into guys riding the roads on a hunting club either. I understand if someone is taking a buddy or a dad that can't walk to well, but I'd rather walk a mile or two silently than bust birds because I'm lazy. When I tried to get my wife to go with me one morning, I was explaining what we would do, and she said, "I don't think I would like to hunt with you." She's used to where her dad hunts deer, he practically drives his truck up with a few hundred yards of the deer box, climbs up, and then he is nice and cozy with office chairs, plenty of signal for his cell phone to get on the internet, Bibles, that is hunting to my wife.
