I have just about every 1911 made except a remington and a ed brown and the pt 1911 is as good as about any other one i have

I've only worked on 2 of them. Both had the bushing hole in the slide reamed so big, an oversized bushing had to be welded up and refit to make either shoot into an 8" circle at 25 yards...YMMV
They always functioned fine though...Never the first jam, per the owner

For that kind of money, you could get into a nice Rock Island Armory … I've never seen one of those with out of spec parts For a little more, you could probably find a nice used Ruger SR1911

If I had a $550 budget, I would pick up a Springfield Armory mil spec or like Gundoc said, try to find a Ruger SR1911 as cheap as I could get it.

Thanks for all input I settled for a gen 4 glock 22 more practical because I can inter swap mags with my gen 2 sub 2000. Swap barrels too and make it a .357 sig or a 9mm 'skeeter blaster!
