If something doesn't give and give quick, I'm guessing more than half the small businesses will be bankrupt within a month. We're doing okay, but I went to town tonight to get supper at 6:30 pm. The largest restaurant in town had TWO cars in the pick up area. Highway 431 looked like a ghost town.

If it ends tomorrow, how long before small business is back to the level they where at? I just see it as being bad for a long time.

Unemployment is going to skyrocket.

It’ll die out in a few weeks when the news cycle changes I don't think so. They are going to play this for all its worth and no matter what is decided by this president they are going to call it wrong. The sad part is they are going to have a bunch of otherwise conservative voters buy into it because they are more interested in staying alive than they are of really living. Unfortunately, a significant portion of the population is highly emotional and illogical and will believe anything as long as it aligns with their fears.

Unemployment is going to skyrocket. I don't know if it's accurate but I saw a statistic today that said 30% are unemployed, at this moment. Some will get their jobs back when it's over but I know of a few local businesses that already said they wouldn't be reopening. That means they were likely in trouble, anyway, but I know several that operate all week just to make payroll on Friday. Every week that goes by is going to make it worse and the recovery longer.

Restaurant and bar owners are probably taking the biggest hit so far. I know of at least three locally that are not likely to recover.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

I’ve been trying to find some help since we are so backed up and all I can find is high school idiots that are plum worthless. I went through three different people last week and still haven’t found anyone worth a damn.

For those that don't think people are staying home, for the most part, drive into areas that are normally busy. I can tell you it's a ghost town in Clarksville, TN and this town is usually gridlocked with traffic. I know my friends in Montgomery, Alabama say the same thing about Eastchase. I have customers all over the southeast and they say the same thing. What am I missing?

Well, when you shut down all the dining rooms of restaurants (some of which just offered carry out until their inventory was gone and then closed, closed all the bars, essentially banned all non-emergency dental and medical procedures and closed a ton of other retail there just is not a lot of reason to be out and about on the roads. Down here there are still people getting together socializing at homes (albeit in smaller numbers of people) and going out on boats, etc. I have definitely seen pictures that show people not keeping the 6' apart, which I understand you cannot do with small children, but lots of them are old enough to understand the request.
