After all the fussing and fighting, how many of y’all wish you’d have killed a few more deer for the freezer this year?
If I had a nickel for every time I heard “I mean who needs 7-8 deer a year?”....
We put up 8 I think it was. Several was supposed to be for jerky that I just deboned and froze, but we are good for a WHILE.
Usually it’s 3 or 4 for jerky, 3 for burger, sausage and cube, and 2-3 for specialty meats from hunters gold.
We’ll eat every bit of it. I’m ready to put up some fish now.

Everything woke turns to shucks

I gave away a bunch of meat and filled the freezer up. If we had killed another one, I dont know where I would have put it

I didn't have room for more deer because of all the gator, fish and hog. I like to diversify my portfolio

I killed 2 deer this year and that is going a long way towards supplementing our supply of meat. We don't eat wild game exclusively, but I can't recall the last time I bought ground beef of any kind.

The way I see it, if I need more meat in an emergency the ones I passed up are still out there walking around and I can just go get them as needed. If not, they'll be good uns next year.

I think for a lot of guys it’s a storage issue. I killed two this season and even if I’d have killed a few more, the meat would be in someone else’s freezer. Just nowhere to store that much meat in small freezer like I have. If needed there’s an abundance of squirrels and other small game that I’d put on my grocery shopping list.

Just me and the wife here at the house, I killed 6 deer this past season. 1 buck and 5 doe's, had it all ground into 1 pound packages except the backstraps and tenderlions. Had a 350 pound hog butchered in October. I have two 20.2-cu ft frost-free upright freezers.

It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

I agree, I killed 2 and my dad killed 1. Combined I've got about 80% of the meat in my freezers and they are packed. No more room for more. I did cook up some Squirrel and Rice for lunch today. That's some good eatin, especially those young tender ones. Plenty more around the house if I get hungry enough...
