I'm good for a couple of months. But thinking about long term problems I realize that I am not well prepared...partially prepared ,yes, but well prepared, no.
If I was back at the Mississippi homestead I'd be a relaxed as Outback....everything a person needs to thrive is right there: cache of seeds, a spring, catfish pond, oil well, pasture, livestock, woods, deer/turkeys/hogs/small game, a navigable river, and it's remote. My SHTF plan is to get west of here asap.

I think I might buy a portable diesel tank to replace my plastic barrels and hand pump. Other than that, we good to go. Oh , I might buy a couple trickle battery chargers to help keep all the crap charged.
I like Jiffy cornbread.

The only thing I will do different is to make sure I have plenty of yeast for bread making and not use the yeast I have to make some soured hog bait. I will be well stocked if it ever gets back in stores around here. I did find some online and ordered some. No bread in any stores around here. However I’m getting real good at making biscuits. Look up how to make sourdough bread. There are yeast spores everywhere. You just have to learn how to use it to your advantage. Once your have your starter, you have an infinite supply of yeast.

I made a choice a long time ago. My choice is not for everyone but was intended for me alone. That choice was to live debt free. I've been lucky but I have also been comitted. House, land, vehicles, equipment, etc. all paid for. No credit cards. Cows to eat. Game to hunt. Fish to catch. I'm really only worried about my elderly parents health. I wouldn't change a thing and feel I'm in as good of situation as can be expected at the time.
The financial side of this........Just my opinion but looks very grim. I feel even people living pay check to pay check can miss 2 weeks and some how, some way can catch back up over time. But miss 4 weeks of pay or more will be devastating to A LOT of families and the American economy for years. That's why I predicted April 6, school would start back and we would be cautiously go back to normal. Our economy couldn't handle anything more. I am now not so confident in my prediction at this point.

I am far from a prepper or hoarder but for me I make sure I have plenty of things that dont require refrigeration, and if needed could be cooked over a fire. Lot of small currency and change. I have a 500 gal diesel tank I keep full for truck and tractor.
So far this hasnt affected us near as much as some things will or can. I worked the gulf coast on 3 major hurricanes. in 2004-2006. Ivan, Dennis, Katrina and it was a true eye opener. . What people across the country are complaining about now or seeing is nothing even close to a good disaster or pandemic. . . At least we have stores open, gas station, can go thru drive thrus etc. People are not prepared for this small occurrence much less a larger one. I wish everyone could have first hand seen what it was like after the hurricanes down there. It would open a lot of peoples eyes as to just how fragile our way of life is. Down there there wasnt power in almost whole counties for weeks. Some areas went almost 2 months before it came back. You could drive for 2 hours and not find a store, quick mart, gas station , anything open at all. And dont even think about if you did find one open using a debit or credit card. it was cash only and dont expect to use large bills, 500k sitting in your account at the bank is worth ZERO during a disaster. Either as in todays case employees will be at home sick, or in another case no power for them to open and do business.
