I have called 2 or more birds in at once on multiple occasions. Usually due to lack of planning, if I'm hunting with a buddy, we don't have a plan and usually only have time for one of us to shoot.
The obvious plan going into a hunt is to say, you get the one on the right, and I'll get the one on the left (or visa versa).
Just curious what others have done to maximize efficiency in doubling up with little movement communication that might scare the turkeys before the shot?

Leave the buddy at home, come back tomorrow and kill the other one.
You're welcome

Sit right beside each other so you can whisper and countdown if you're dealing with field/food plot turkeys. If you're in the woods, pick out who is the shooter and let him shoot when he can. The only chance for a double comes via clean-up after the initial shot. Try to do a countdown in the woods and you'll go home with zero turkeys way too often. Screw that crap.

You are absolutely right. I just always hunt in timber. The countdown is probably a lot more effective in the open.

we TALK in low voices. A turkey doesnt understand english. I say" I have the one on the right..you take the left bird..on 3...1 , 2, BOOM!" And then after the shot..."Oh..you thought Id say 3 and shoot? i meant shoot at 3...well, at least I got mine...lol."

In all seriousness, the couple of times I've hunted with someone else, we decided in advance who the primary shooter was....draw straws, flip a coin, whatever. Mostly so that if there was only one bird, we both knew who's bird it was. If after the shooter shoots, there's an opportunity for the other dude to shoot at another bird, then so be it......but trying to coordinate a simultaneous double just sounds like a recipe for disaster.........and I haven't killed near enough that I'm willing to risk going home empty-handed just so my buddy can get one too. I'm a selfish turkey hunter. If I'm the primary shooter in this situation, then after I get mine we can worry about you getting yours

I wouldn’t typically hunt with another person, but when it’s the landowner where I primarily hunt, it’s pretty beneficial!

I’ve got a buddy who I’ve doubled with quite a few times. We understand each other. Let the birds work in close, then the primary shooter pulls the trigger and the secondary shooter mops up. Counting to 3 is a good way to go home empty handed. This. ^^^^

We shoot on report and everyone I hunt with knows which bird is on their side...the one they should be shooting at. I have doubled lots of times and never spoke a word.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
