Thinking about buying one. Anyone that has used one care to share your thoughts and experiences?

I used a 5.0 last year. It worked a couple times but the majority of the time, the cap would pop off the back when I shot, which would jar the battery and cut the camera off. When it did this, the file that was recording would not be saved. It was highly aggravating. I put gorilla tape over the back of it and that worked a time or two but ultimately failed, as well.

After the season, I contacted Tactacam and they immediately sent me a new back to try. I didn't try it until a few weeks ago and it worked of 1/5 shots I think. This time, the cap stayed on but the camera would stop recording on the shot and not save the file. I reached out again and they said send it in, it shouldn't be doing that, we need to make it right. So I tried to clean it up a little and messed up the finish on the camera. It was cosmetically in rough shape when I sent it in. They sent me an email within a week and basically said, 'we don't know what you did to this camera, but we would advise against doing that again.' They said they would replace it this time, but would not in the future if it looked like it did when I sent it in. So basically, I screwed up a little by messing the camera up somehow and they still made it right. I was VERY pleased with that so I wouldn't be out that much money. I have yet to try the new one, just got it yesterday.

That’s good customer service which is getting harder to find by the day. I’ve watched some of your videos and enjoy them. Are you also using a hand held Go Pro?

I was looking at this at the NWTF banquet the other evening. Looked like a great product. Completely blows go pro out of the water.

Thank you! Yes, I'm using a Gopro Hero 7 Black.

Gopro is more of an action cam than a barrel cam. Has a much wider field of view, which makes a turkey at 30 yds look like an ant. The Tactacam has the ability to zoom a little and the field of view isn't as wide, so you can actually see a turkey at 30 yds. Hoping this new one they sent works as advertised. I depend on it alot to get actual footage of the bird when I don't take my bigger camera and tripod.

I’m anti- GoPro. Spent $400 and didn’t last a year. Turns on but hang up in the boot up. Tried a firmware update but it didn’t work. There is no service center to send it to b worked on. Company said” Sorry, that’s too bad but we can’t fix it”
