There is something about watching the world come alive in the morning that affirms my joy in God's creation. The gobbler greeting the morning is a springtime rite that should be witnessed in full camo with a shotgun and with my back against a tree. If you have never had one of those majestic birds fly over your head and land within shotgun range then I pity you. The anticipation builds as the gobbler answers the tree yelps, gets higher as you hit the flydown cackle and crescendoes with a flap flap flap. More often than not, it doesn't work and plan B goes into effect. I will be trying to call one out of the tree every time I have an opportunity.

I will admit that my success ratio goes way up after the hens go to nest but I won't be skipping any sunrises. Won't be sitting in a tent either.
