A word of advice... Don't trust the VA and don't answer any of their personal questions. I had them refer me to a civilian doc since I have tricare prime. The little I dealt with them wasn’t bad. They did get me pointed in the right direction. I've had terrific care from VA doctors and nurses. It's the administration that is the problem. And I've got a couple of honest doctors who tell me the truth. The VA makes them ask certain questions and fill out certain forms that you don't want to get your name on.

PTSD is an insidious bastard. It never completely goes away. You might learn how to manage it, how to keep it back a safe distance like a dangerous caged wild animal, but its always waiting, always watching for an opportunity to escape and attack. You never forget the dead and ghosts don't die. They will always be with you. Key is to not let them take over. When you are old, like me, you have had more time to put between you and then. It makes a difference. I wrote a story and posted it here a long time ago named " My Cousin Sarah". Its about a Vietnam vet and part of it is how he handles PTSD. I trashed all of the stories a long time ago but maybe somebody here can find it. Good luck with everything.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
