Don’t know why this crossed my mind. Any of y’all still have saved cell numbers or text messages of those who have gone to their reward?
I still have my dad’s cell number in my contacts. I wish I hadn't deleted his last voice mail but I did it before he died not ever thinking it would be the last one ever. Including his, at last count I have 4 others. I don’t know why, but I just can’t seem to delete them. Maybe it is just so final.
The one that really gets me is a text exchange between me and David Schneider, who was a member on this site. I never had the pleasure of meeting him personally but He was a great guy. We exchanged texts all thru the 2018 turkey season. His last text to me was 1:09pm on April 27. He passed away suddenly the very next day. I look at those texts and it just makes me sad...
Any of y’all in this boat with me?

Yep, I still have a text conversation between me and an old friend who passed away a year ago last week. Still have numbers too of more than a few who are no longer with us.
What feels really strange is when I get a Face Book notification of their birthday.
Heck I even got a second friend request from one. I assume his a account had been hacked.

I need to get on my mom’s Facebook account and deactivate it. Really hard to do that though. I’ll still tag her on Facebook on her birthday, or on mom and dads wedding anniversary. Mainly just because I don’t want folks to forget about her or dad. But there comes a time when it must be done, and I reckon I need to do it sooner than later.

I just can’t seem to erase the last two voice messages from my old hunting buddy. He passed away this past August. This deer season was awfully strange without him. This turkey season will be as well. Good hunting buddies are hard to lose. He was like a second father to me. I still have the cell numbers of the many cancer patients I took hunting who later passed. I just can’t bring myself to delete them.

I’ve still got Bucksville Fatboy on my phone and a few others.
I keep them there for some reason. I guess so that I think of them when I come across their name on my phone.

You don't have to deactivate it...you can contact FB and have them change it to a "memorialized account". https://www.facebook.com/help/103897939701143/

Fox News ran a story a few months back on this subject. A girl's father died and she would periodically text messages to his cell #. Her messages read more like diary entries...she loved him...she missed him...she thought about him often...she wished she could hear from him. She did this for several years, and recently, a man replied to her from that cell #. The man had been getting her texts all along but couldn't get up the nerve to reply. He had lost a daughter around the same time the other girl lost her dad. So this stranger had been reading her mystery texts and finally got up the courage to contact the young lady. He basically said the random texts became like a lifeline to him as we was grieving over his daughter. Those to met in person and realized their "coincidences" in life brought them together for a purpose that helped them both press ahead in life.

I still have my grandpas number stored and he passed in 2013. I have a rather long text string with my friend Nick who was buried last week. Never crossed my mind to delete either of them.
