I'm slowly learning about Satsumas, I had always thought that if the oranges went thru a freeze they were not any good. I have about 15 left on one tree so yesterday I peeled one and it was delicious. The past few years we had pulled all of them before Christmas.

All of our satsumas this past year were ready way earlier than usual...I think they were all gone at the end of November.

I've done nothing to mine and based on the blooms I am seeing, the entire office will have them in November grin

I enjoyed mine for a season...then the cold took them. I was in hopes that they would survive but no. Oh well.

Yes. You can also air layer them or graft them.

We planted a "Satsuma" tree at our house. It's small but had a dozen or so last year, and they were terrible. Really big, not sweet, and had really thick hard to peel skin.
Any ideas why?

Good thing our neighbor was happy to share.

Tree could be a mutt. Could also have been mislabeled. Didn't say "CALAMONDIN" on the tag when you bought it, did it?
