Unless the neighbors feed out of one already it will take them a while to get used to either one. I’d start out with apple corn and get them used to coming before introducing anything else. I’ve got a gravity feeder that’s been up since July and they still won’t eat out of it. I have a feeling that changes now that everyone around is about to quit feeding until next fall.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Get a 55 gallon drum and knock a hole near the bottom with an axe. Fill and let it gravity feed. Every time you kill a deer check it’s tongue, if it’s cut or bleeding you know it has visited your feeder.
I like Jiffy cornbread.

Banks gravity feeder from sportsmans guide. Will cut out feeding most all the unwanted critters. Got ours started on it with apple corn and regular corn mix, then those 2 and added protein pellets. Did not take some of them long to figure it out at all.

I use spin cast type feeders, so I can limit how much feed they get each day. Troughs and gravity feeders are great, but they can get expensive in a hurry when the deer start hitting them hard. The only bad thing is that they don’t do protein well, but I have had good luck feeding the record rack pellets mixed with corn. I bought a all season timer drop protein feeder. 600# capacity. it works well but its taking them much longer to get used to it than the Banks one.

I have 2 spin feeders, just alike, 400 yds. apart. One in a food plot and one in thick pines. Deer are all over the one in the pines and the one in the plot gets used at first and last light. I always start feeding when the persimmons start to fall.
