That place didn’t work for me. First time we went I wasn’t impressed but still went a second time to see if it was a fluke. The second time was less impressive. I’ve got friends who love it, just not for me.

I’ve never had a Mexican dish at S.A.G. I go for the ribeye and although it’s not the best I’ve ever had, it’s the best for the money reasonably close.

X2 on Smokin Hot. Been several times and it was Meh each time.

I e eaten at the bright star dozens of times. I love the place. But, the last time we ate there with some fellow Aldeer folks, my steak had no flavor. That was my first bad meal.

The food at Bright Star is very good and the atmosphere and history are worth a trip there by itself. That part of Bessemer is no more unsafe than any of the popular entertainment districts in greater Birmingham. It's just not a part of town where the cockroaches come out to play.

My take on Bright Star as a whole is it is a good value for lunch. When it is time for the dinner menu to come into play there are other restaurants around that I would prefer to eat at if I'm going to spend that kind of money.

Good stuff.

We ended up eating here. The BBQ nachos are some count. The grits, greens and pork plate was a little underwhelming . I would give them another shot if I'm in the area again. We would have went to The Bright Star but my son wanted to go to the bbq place instead.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

The Bright Star not really that good for the price they charge. It is bad when you get a better steak at Texas Roadhouse for half the price and seafood is better at Captain D's and I don't eat D's often. Unless these people know a special good cook there they sure didn't cook it good the time the family and I all went and ordered five different entrees. Totally overpriced for what I expected of a more pricey establishment and won't be back.

Go to the galleria, around the perimeter is a place called J. Alexander's. You can find pretty much anything there for different eaters. The Bright Star, I just don't see how it is supposedly a 5 star rest.

No, just a lot of people who don't appreciate fine dining.

I thought J. Alexander’s closed.
