I don't think they are legal in freshwater any more.

Well it says they will approve where you can use it after you buy a commercial fishing license. So you will get you answer when you get your license.

gill nets of certain sizes are legal in AL freshwater. For non-game fish only. With a Commercial fishing license. LOTS of rules and regs for use.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Mesh size of nets is also a part of the equation.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Just curious, why are you wanting to use a gillnet? I've never actually heard of anyone wanting to do that before. I'd be surprised if it's legal in freshwater. We used to do it at the island when i was a teenager and it was fun ( alot of work though) but never a dull moment lol. I can remember like it was yesterday the time we had a big azz shark roll over (actually happened a few times but that one was a monster) the net at the very end in chest deep water 😯🤣🤣
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

I was reading online and it said it was legal to use gillnets in Alabama that were under 300 feet. I was wondering if I could put one in a lake or small river that was only about 10-20 feet long. I was also wondering how you set them up. Before you learn that, try to learn how to post links and pics here newbie ! Have you heard of Goofle search when you can't find something ?
