The wife says, “Don’t you even talk about another treestand to me.” I’m going to finish the season in my shooting shack and ground blind. I think it’s too early to decide what I’ll do in regards to tree stands in the future. “Killing tomorrow’s trophies today.” On the distance I like to walk to my stands: “The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”

Something I've done so many times but this time it caught up with me . Had it tied off low and midway up the tree and was trying to get my ratchet strap around the base of the seat . Really windy and I'm not sure if the tree moved away from me or me and the ladder moved. Anyway the ladder started bending backwards and I knew I was in trouble . Can't remember if I landed flat of my back or tried to jump and land on my feet. I have a compression fracture of the L 1 vertebra . Neurosurgeon says 2-3 months and should heal without surgery. Most painful thing I've ever dealt with ! Thankful for a caring wife !

FWIW, I haven't bowhunted nor climbed in several years. I want to but just got out of shape and seems like it's always too warm before gun season. I gun hunt mostly off the ground or from a shooting house. I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time. NRA Life Member
