I got in the stand this morning about 10:00. I pulled my bow up, settled in and about 45 min later I hear a bunch of squirrels running around to my left so I’m slowly scanning the area as I look back to the left there’s a buck standing about 35yrds away. He’s walking perpendicular to me, I draw now he’s 10yrds our straight in front of me. I’m thinking slam dunk time... I miss. How could I miss? He trots back the direction he came from and stood behind a tree. He didn’t have a clue what had happen. While he was behind that tree I nocked another arrow but as he turns to come back he starts to head away. He makes one mistake and walks thru an opening at about 35yrds. He was a little more than quartered and I hit him in the front of his hind quarter and as he left I could see the fletching sticking out. I climbed down to retrieve my first arrow and put my sling on my bow. I found blood and since the ground is so wet I started to slowly track him. As I approach the creek I look up and he’s bedded down in some thick magnolia looking brush. I watch him and he’s watching me. He tried to get up a couple of times but doesn’t seem to be able to. I took my sling off and nocked a arrow, he raised his head and it goes right back down. I’m thinking he’s about to give it up well he does. That sucker bolted and jumped in the creek runs up the other bank. I follow him and I hear him jump back in the creek about 30yrds ahead of me. I stalked to where I thought he crossed. I look across the creek and that rascal is standing there looking at me. I drew back and drilled him square in the chest. He just stands there for about 10-12sec then falls down the embankment and into the creek. At first I thought dang it now I’ve got to drag him up that bank then I thought this worked out better. I floated him down the creek then only had to drag him about 100yrds. I bet next time the deer get a follow up right off the bat.[Linked Image]]Deer[/url]

Congrats, cool story. IL. Sling 2 arrows if given the chance. I could tell my bull this year was a dead elk standing and I drilled him anyway
