Nasty things. Just a buzzard with a white head One of the guys at the shop told me this morning that he put a deer carcass in his pasture and saw 4 bald eagles scavenging on it this weekend. He lives just up the mountain from the state park.

I once watched three of them catch fish, for about an hour, right at dusk, down at Wind Creek State Park once. It’s was really something. I had another one fly about 20’ above our boat once too. That was cool to see one that close up.

the wingspan is quite impressive that close up!! we've got them in the vicinity of camp and have had to pack up mid-hunt a few times when they'd come use the hole we were hunting in to devour a snow goose...feathers from one end to the other and not a duck is gonna sit on the water with them there, either....GONE!!
experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

Watched one trying to catch coots while duck hunting in central Florida this weekend. Actually helped us kill some ducks. Flushed them out of the raft of coots that were out of shooting range.

when working together, they'll buzz a flock of snows in a field to get them spooked enough to try to get airborne quickly. in the excitement of getting airborne, geese slam into each other and break a wing leaving them lame...voila, lunch!!

He lives just up the mountain from the state park. That deer I found under my camper I posted on here a couple of weeks ago. I drug it to the edge of the woods. A week later, a bald eagle was on the carcass. Here is the video: https://youtu.be/TWGWNfEDO-k

That was cool to see one that close up. That truly is a sight to see. I saw that years ago for the first time, and thought it was cool how they’ll turn the fish (in flight) so it’s nose is facing forward and more aerodynamic & easier to carry while flying.

On the last day of a hunt in Iowa years ago, I killed a button thinking it was a doe. Walked straight to the truck and drove straight back. A golden eagle was on that deer. Had already cut a small hole in its shoulder. It was quite impressive to see up close.

On the distance I like to walk to my stands: “The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”
