I'm jealous. The only piece of land I own has a driveway and a mailbox on it.
You've every right to be proud! Congrats and enjoy!

It's the American Dream IMHO. Owning land is all I've ever wanted, wealth wise. When I was young if I knew two men, one had a million $ in the bank and just a average house in town, and the other had 1000 acres of land (or however many acres made a million $ at that time), the man with the land was RICH. The other guy just got a paper in the mail each month with numbers on it. Pfffffftttt on that.

I've got a small tract in Baldwin County (which will soon be for sale), my wife and her sister have one in Polkville, MS and my children have a place in Mt Vernon. The way I look at things we're loaded, lol. My wife doesn't see it that way. She just sees a tax bill at year end.

You know what's better than owning land? Knowing someone who owns land and getting to hunt it for free. smile

Congrats, it all depends on what's around you, but a small acreage managed right can be a deer haven. Go easy on the harvest, hunt where you can come and go with as little disturbance as possible. Put as big a food plot as you can in the middle of it and create a bedding area. I live on 29 acres that is about the deeriest place you will ever sit. I plant year round, rarely kill a deer on it but my wife, grandson and I have put 7 bucks on the wall off of it. If you enjoy it half as much as I have, you will be glad you bought it every day

Our house is in the middle of our 40. Drive across the dam of the pond to get to it. 1/4 mile easement to get to it. Landlocked other than that. 14 yo daughter killed a great Baldwin co 9 pt this week. I shot a big hog off the porch this morning.
We've enjoyed it since 1993 and you will enjoy yours! Congratulations!
