I have 4 Roku TV's and love them. Be careful about buying a "smart tv" because some of them won't update and you can't add or delete apps. First one I bought didn't have Prime Video as an option from the factory and there was no way to add it.

Smart TVs get software updates

Plus I can still plug a firestick or Roku in them, if needed, just like the old TVs.

One thing about their built in Roku system vs. the other manufacturer's native smart apps, the Roku apps all work better than most of the others, my Vizio smart TV will stream Hulu, YouTube, etc. but the Vizio apps do not support the live TV streaming (Hulu Live, YouTube TV, etc.) So I had to put a roku on it anyway.

I have 4 Vizio TVs with smartcast. We don’t have problems with any of them and we watch YouTube TV all the time.

Joe, I get live TV thru the Source button at top left of my Visio remote. I also get it thru Youtube TV.

My point was you don't "need" to buy a Smart TV, with devices like Roku that allow you to stream. A lot of smart TV's have proprietary systems with bloatware pre-installed, etc... And most operate differently than other smart TV's. So if you have a choice between 2 TV's and everything else is equal except the Smart TV is quite a bit more expensive, get the less expensive one and buy a Roku.

We have one Smart TV fortunately it is a Roku equipped TV, all the other TV's at the house and at the cabin have Roku attached to all of them. The good thing about this is that they all have the same interface and operating system so no matter which TV you use it works the same, same remote, etc...

Our main TV has been a very nice one, I think it's a Phillips. We've had it for about 13 years and it still has a great picture. A lot of streaming technology has changed in those 13 years.

Check out TCL, not the best, not the worst. They are cheap compared to some.

We have an LG Smart TV. I love the quality, but LG's access to streaming apps is very limited. We have a Roku stick, but kind of defeats the purpose of buying a smart TV if you can't get the apps you need.

Buy a smart tv and get a Samsung. I had to have warranty work on a vizio and the guy that fixed it said they had the least problems with Samsung. The vizio crapped out again and I bought a Samsung 4k smart tv. They have gotten ridiculously inexpensive0

I like Samsung and had made up my mind to buy a Samsung and use the Roku device with it prior to finding out about the Roku TV. Had Samsung offered a Roku model I would have gotten it, but I'm glad they didn't. I was trying to reduce the number of remotes needed to watch TV, and TCL had the best reviews of any that fit that bill.

I guess I'll join this if the OP is still interested. We have smart TV's and TCL's with Roku built in ---- Plus for the Roku built in, but minus that I can't search the web. Why would I want to search the web? I may want to search and watch a youtube video, not youtube TV. You can buy a smart TV and add a roku device much like adding a DVD player. I have not found a way to get what I have on my computer onto the screen using Roku. I have seen a couple apps that are supposed to screen capture it, but I haven't been able to make them work properly. Roku, Fire Stick, Apple TV, you can add to a smart TV if you choose.

Try a chromecast that will work.

If you read through this thread you'll see several people comment on this exact brand. They get good reviews and are good TVs for the money.

I won’t buy a smart tv. The same reason we don’t have an Alexa. They can be hacked and you can be listened to and watched.

Hard to do if they don't have a camera or a microphone. Not something I worry about!
