Trying to confuse folks again? What does GPS have to do with the story?

Point being, there was no way to track that particular tag. So if it was on a deer, or hanging in somebody's barn, for 20 years nobody would know.

Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner.....nobody knows. Can guess, can have opinions, but no ones here knows for sure.

I know it wasn't on a wild deer for 22&1/2 years. That's just stupid.

But you don’t know. You just said no one could know. It’s just as possible that it was on a wild deer as laying in the woods.

I am a believer, however common current day GPS would not help to prove it due to battery life.

Lot's of questions and variables on this one.

I'm making the dangerous assumption that they wouldn't have put the tag on a fawn deer. I'm thinking that they would have wanted their tagged deer (plural) to be big and old enough to have a better chance of survival from bobcats, viruses, dogs, etc. If so, that would add at least a year, maybe two to the doe's age. I'm also assuming that they tagged them with the thoughts of hunters harvesting them and then calling in the tag #. Was it even legal to kill does in Alabama when the deer were tagged? I'm not even sure it was legal to stick one with a bow in 1960. If it wasn't legal, Redneck Joe sure wasn't going to call it in. So, would the tagged deer in 1960 all have been Bucks? Would the tag # have been recycled? Could the data that Alabama Fish and Game kept have been inaccurate? It wasn't called DCNR back then. I know what you're thinking here, Alabama Fish and Game wouldn't make a mistake. Or, just maybe they tagged a young doe that lived 22 more years to meet it's fate by bullet as a decrepit old nanny doe.

Did any of y'all think that the "22 1/2" years is a fricking typo!

If that were the case the 1960 date would also have to be a typo.

I join Charlie in wondering and betting it was a typo. If you doubt that look at comments on this site ! slap

Where is fake croc wearing Matt Brock when we need him ? Probably out doing a survey on the current black painter population ion Alabama ! grin
A deer that old would have no teeth and probably be using a walker !

watch the Catman video -- you'll notice the front teeth are missing from his jawbone -- according to him, they cut off the front teeth & make "sliced" cuts & count the rings in the teeth (like you would rings in a tree) & this allows them to accurately age the jawbone ... i see these jawbones still have their front teeth, so clearly, that wasn't done ...
