I shoot a 30" GT, 100gr brass insert, 200 gr head, vanes. Total weight is 570gr. Head is a 160 STOS with 40gr broadhead adapter.

I used to think I had a shoulder puncher set up....570gr arra at 270fps. Then I hit a buck in the shoulder. Penetration not so much.

Ordered some axis 300s. 11.8 gpi I think. They were only $25 for 6 from Lancaster. Gonna put 75gr brass inserts and try 150gr broadheads. I tinkered with 150gr heads and went back to 125 due to the limited options. Double check your head options before jumping. I was back to 125 before season ever started and just went with a heavier insert. If ya like the 150gr head, I say do it

My 70# bows pushing the 468gr at 278 fps in comfort. I could switch to performance and get about another 8fps but, I'm not. Shoulder bones typically win out it seems. When someone hits a bull in the shoulder, it's obvious from the shot. I watched one go for about 500yds and start rounding up cows lol

the buck I shoulder shot had come 300 yards straight to my tree an hour after I rattled at him. He turned inward just as I hit the release, resulting in a shoulder hit. He ran, walked 75 yards and lay down. I was waiting for him to drop his head and another buck came and made him get up. He went another 200 yards across a field and lay down on the edge of the field. Recovered him at dark and had to put another area in him to anchor him. Head was a big Simmons very sharp. No such thing as a shoulder buster bow set up.

I'm in the process of building my first heavy arrows. I bought some of the grizzly stik momentum TDT 240s a month or so ago. Planning now on tipping them with the grizzly stik 75gr brass insert/outserts and looking hard at either the 200gr Maasai or 200gr Cutthroat broadheads. I may order the Maasai’s.

I used to think I had a shoulder puncher set up....570gr arra at 270fps. Then I hit a buck in the shoulder. Penetration not so much. Exactly. There’s one spot in that shoulder you ain’t getting an arrow through with enough penetration for a lethal hit. All of these folks with these “shoulder buster” arrows haven’t hit it yet.

No such thing as a shoulder buster bow set up. Right, and the guys up here are trying to make them for elk. You'll punch scapula but not that big bone...
