Not sure how many of you hunt this area, but I had a small 4pt chasing a doe last weekend, then a 7pt come in behind him. Seems very odd for this area and this time of year based on my experience. Just curious if anyone else has seen anything similar.

I’ve had luck up there this time of year in the past.

Her tail was pointed straight out ... seemed like she was ready too, or close to it.

Chasing and harassment happens most of deer season. I watched sparring and chasing and deer just being deer today. I saw no shooters today, but the immature bucks on the field today sparred and slightly harassed a few does.

Thanks for the replies. I am tied up until next weekend, and things should start heating up around then!

What's everyone seeing now? I saw a 4pt and 6pt yesterday that looked like they might have been sparring a little. They both just appeared out of nowhere.

It’s still early but a good time to catch one slipping. You should be seeing scrapes and rubs pop up and bucks splitting up taking territories. Look around mid January for it to really get going

Buddy shot a nice 8 yesterday morning working a scrape - about 7:15 am. Seen a lot more sign when scouting myself as well.

They seem to be going pretty good where we hunt close to Tallassee. I need to get out there.

Yea, I walked some of the firebrakes between the fields and hardwood fingers. Lots of scrapes along the road under licking branches. I moved some cameras around near the scrapes. Mid-January is when all of our biggest deer have come.

Nothing much going on in Fort Davis. Could change overnight I now; few rubs and small scrapes. Looking forward to Jan 10-16
