My in-laws have a Springer Spaniel puppy that they brought home about 2months ago. I've thought about trying to train it to be a blood tracking dog. Anyone done this with a Spaniel?
I know it's probably not the ideal breed to make a blood trailer out of, but it'd be a win-win for me and my in-laws if I did this.
Thanks in advance for the help!

I run an English Cocker, who sits in a deer stand with me. If I don't spot a deer within 30-40 yards, I usually just back up and watch him. He'll generally cast back and forth, then head for the dead deer. I'll probably work a little bit more with my next one, but this one is smart enough to know what we are trying to do. The field bred Cockers are awfully close in temperament to a small Springer.
Used to be a lifeguard, until that blue kid got me fired.
