There's a lot I don't understand about this deer stealing / killing thing too....so, someone would cut the fence of a "deer farmer" and take / kill one or more of the deer he raises...but you rarely if ever hear of that happening to someone who raises cattle. Hmm, deer meat versus beef...let's just think about pure market value (not to mention tastiness and overall meat usage)

someone would rather steal a deer than a Beef steer? help me out here what am I missing? I mean people don't hang steer heads on their walls...is that it? a head? or the meat?

either way I'm baffled.

Well I know your not stupid from previous post but use your head here...it ain't for the meat...and yes people do steal cattle for money

Not that hard to figure out man. Most deer breeders have massive bucks on their properties and thieves like to steal/kill them then brag about it like they done something big. The bragging is usually what gets them a knock at the front door.

I don’t know. I don’t think he had any though.. he had lost a few to disease but was about to see a little profit I think. This wasn’t insurance fraud like the idiot above suggested

Nah man insurance fraud never even entered my mind. The fact that insurance even came up just had me wondering if the deer were covered by a policy somehow. I really believe if the owner can just sit tight and be patient somebody will talk and he will find out who did it. I hope so anyway. I hate a thief.

yeah...I guess so. So going to jail or worse just so you can hang a deer head on your wall?...that's what I don't get. you can buy a mounted Buck for your wall for like $600 from amazon

You may not be old enough to remember the man who killed the deer at the Birmingham Zoo and then entered the head in a contest the next year.

Yep. The guys measuring deer looked at the deer head and realized quickly that it was 'Bucky'. They had pictures of Bucky at the show to help identify him if someone was stupid enough to enter him in the contest.

Or the goofball that killed Buckhorn High School's mascot, Bucky. Grown men do it .

We had a feller steal a monster buck a local hunter killed and entered it in every deer contest in NE Bama many years ago. He got caught and prosecuted rather quickly. A few years later I killed one of the biggest bucks I ever killed and this same feller saw it on my 4 wheeler and followed me all the way through town , all the way to my house (7 miles outside town) and pulled in my driveway. crazy

Bucky was not entered the next year but a few years after the kill at the zoo. POS got away with it because the statute of limitations had expired.

Any of yall remember the folks who killed the deer inside the fence on Bell Road in the Gump years ago?

I could be wrong, but seems like I remember them getting some serious jail time.

if it's the one I'm thinking of the shooter got life in prison and his driver got 10 years. Shooter was a 3 time convicted felon.

he didn't get prosecuted BUT he lost his job and wife divorced him, so not a clean getaway.
