I am looking for input positive or negative about feeding roasted soybeans in a trough style feeder through the spring and preseason... Our lease has fed extensively for years but we are looking to get better results.

Its expensive but they love it I feed it occasionally has alot of protein I think 23 percent which is good for antler development if you can afford to feed it.

Where would you get roasted soybeans?

LMAO

13-16% protein is optimal for antler development.

They do eat them better when they're roasted. Deer that are not familiar with browsing on growing soybeans are reluctant to eat them whole sometimes.

It helps to soak whole soybeans in water and put them in a feeder, but they'll spoil if not eaten shortly thereafter.

Best way to feed soybeans is to mix soybean meal 50/50 with a complete mineral mix and feed free choice. The mineral will limit consumption but they'll get what they need.

Anybody ever tried soaking soy beans in water with a little salt and letting them dry throughly? Wonder if it would help get them started on either raw or roasted beans? (the raw would swell some I'm sure.)

Scientific Feed Systems in Oxford can get them for $20 per 50 bag. Yes expensive but 5 times nutiritional value of corn, so you get what you pay for.

The roasted soy beans taste pretty good! You can get roasted corn, beans, and wheat for you bird hunters (wont sprout)
