1. Don't try to figure out why people go to great lengths to be sorry.
2. Don't do anything stupid that will land you in jail. It isn't worth it.

So you would be ok with someone you have never seen before sitting on your porch, swimming in your pool, camping in your yard, etc...? Its the same thing!

Yep, it really is.

Trespassing is trespassing. People would flip out if Susie and Jimmy were rumbling around the shed in their backyard but someone's arrowheads o their property or junk by an old barn is fine.

Not the same buddy. I do have other property and it would depend on if it was a one time hiker, arrowhead hunter,or a meth maker as to my reaction on that other property. I would not however go and act like some ass over someone walking through likely one time.

Life is just too short and we don't take anything with us. If you think that way,you are just enjoying everything for the time being. your time is so short that it isn't worth it to stress out trying to hold on to what you are just temporarily enjoying anyway. When you look like it that way,it makes a lot more sense to be a nice person, at least in the initial contact. I don't mean to be stupid and let someone take advantage of you. I'm just saying there's no reason to be an ass just because you can. personally,I don't want to be an ass,but from some of the posts,I suppose some people really enjoy it. LOl

It's not being an ass to protect your property and keep trespassers off of it.

The OP? They intentionally were there, intentionally were taking things, knew they were caught on camera, and acted the way they did because they knew it was wrong. They were trespassing and taking things.

You may not care about your stuff or land. Not everyone is like that.

Let me help you. Make photo copies of their faces and blow it up. Make about 100 copies and post it at every common place in that town, gas stations, Walmart, diners, etc and post in the pictures “please help identify these trespassers”. Offer a reward but do not disclose the amount. Within 24 hours you will have a call from them or someone they know. Tell them you want your property back and give them a chance to meet you. Of course, when they meet you, have the Sheriff deputy and game warden there with you to issue the warning or fine.

Facebook also works with this exact same situation. No one wants their face to be posted! Tell them it will all go away once you have your arrowheads. BTW, photos are admissible evidence to crimes committed including trespassing.

Good luck!

Something makes me feel that ole RH has either never had to deal with a scumbag trespassed/thief....or a poacher. Or could be that he enjoys trespassing himself every now and then. Either way, he is completely wrong in all of his assessments

I guess what I would be mad about is the lack of common courtesy to at least ask for permission. That alone would be enough for me to tell them they are not welcome.

I’ve worked hard for EVERYTHING I have. Protecting what’s mine is not being an ass. “Don’t let someone take advantage of you” was a statement you made. Those trespassers are absolutely taking advantage of the land owner. They don’t own it and don’t have permission. I’m probably the most easy going person you will ever meet but don’t take advantage of me or those close to me. Look at it anyway you want but trespassing is WRONG and I’m not gonna let someone trespass just because I “should be nice” or “life’s too short”

I have dealt with it for years at our lake property. Some you can explain and take a picture of their drivers license and it will stop them, others think its their right since they aren't hurting anything and the water is public. They fail to mention they tore down a gate to back their truck up to the waters edge to put the boat in and fish. Or my favorite is when you catch them they tell you how un-Christian it is to not let them do what ever illegal act they were committing on your property.

Only way to stop it is be vigilant, face the hassle of lost reports and inaction and stay on the sheriff until they act. It will take your time and effort that you rather spending doing other things but its the only way it works.

I see people all the time stop and look for arrowheads on ground we just plowed..doesnt bother me cuz I don't hunt it and it usually just on the road but I would be upset if it was back in the woods. However I've never looked for em until today and found 6 in about an hour so I may have to run em off next time 🤣

I had to run off a couple picking up pecans today at my dad's house. Now I don't mind if anyone wants to pick up pecans, but at least come knocking on the door and ask. Then don't be belligerent when I confront you.

No sir. Just as someone who rents a apartment or house can have someone arrested for trespass, B&E etc you as the person leasing the land can press charges for things.

Same with the arrow heads. If they would have asked. More than likely I wouldn’t have minded. But don’t ASSUME anything.

I can plainly see that they are searching for arrow heads, I've found tons of them myself. The vids show them heads to grown, picking up stuff putting in their pocket. As they walk toward the cam, I see one pull out of his pocket one of the heads to show the other (they have not spotted the cam at this point). Now if you don't know how I camo my cams, check out a post I put on here maybe 2 years ago, this cam done the same way. The cam is very difficult to spot until you get right up on it on this plot, in the woods, you may never spot it. So as he is about 10 ft from it, he spots the cam and walks out of the picture. Then as if rehearsed, the next vid has both standing in front of the camera talking to each other about what they've found, pulling the arrow heads out of their pocket so I can see what they have and are doing and he says to the other "this is a good place for finding stuff like this and we aren't hurting anyone or taking anything." Then I have no more vid of them, picks back up on deer movement. CLEARLY they are letting me know they are not there to steal my cams or anything else, just take arrow heads.
No am I upset, of course. Am I going to hunt them down in this small town, no. Will I say something if I see them at the local gas station, yes. This is what I don't understand, BIG BALLS !! Man, where they were at, is NO WHERE NEAR a road or house, they had to walk a LONG ways in the woods to get there. If I would have walked up on them you better know the pistol would be drawn, I ain't saying I'm pointing it at them or firing off rounds, just saying, its going to be in my hand, you're on my private land, in the middle of now where. This ain't lease butted up against another lease or a hunting club and yes its marked and yes there are no trespassing signs but not as many as I'd like at the borders.
My question is this, if I'm them, surely they got to know if I find them, there is going to be trouble. Or do people like this just think they are going to explain that they are not hurting anything, taking anything, I'm just simply looking for arrow heads, that land owners are going to be fine with that after I explain what I'm doing ? They knew they were on camera, they knew it was there, they planned the convo I'm certain of it.
And dont hand me this crap about "be happy they didnt take it" = I get that. I'm just trying to figure out peoples mind set. I wouldn't dare step on private land and ESPECIALLY this time of the year.
Big balls if you ask me.

This is an interesting post. Thanks for posting. At the very least, you need to report the tresspassing and theft and show the evidence to the LEOs and be on record of doing this. Let them do their job to investigate the tresspassing and the theft vs taking matters in your own hands. My biggest concern would be the liability exposure of them "doing nothing wrong" while they trespass and steal. If it ever went to court, you could show proof of having taken reasonable measures to remedy the offenses. 9 out of 10 times that I've taken matters in my own hands and acted out of anger, I've regretted it. Good luck.
