I see teachers complaning on facebook all the time about how they should get paid more. The hours suck. The kids suck...

1) didn't you know what teachers got paid when you went to college to become one?

2) even though you don't get quite as long of a summer and winter break, you're still off work a lot more than a normal 8-5er

3) you get a state retirement out of it

4) you have state benefits

Don't like it, find a new job. Rant over...

I think it depends on what school system and what kind of person they are if they are a fit for that job. Lord knows I couldnt put up with little snot nosed kids all day. I think alot of them become jaded over the years. Dont ask me how I know.🤣

my wife teacher for 25 years so what Im about to relay is first-hand information. If you figure the amount of hours they actually work the hourly rate is way up there. But this is not enough to have to deal with some of the animals that go to school.

I agree. My mom is a HS teacher and she complains about the kids, pay, administration, and other teachers. With that being said teachers are just easy to group together most employees complain about customers, co workers, how much they’re paid, their bosses.....

My wife is in the school system. Home everyday by 15:30, gets to dress up everyday, stays clean, summers off, weekends off. I love it.

One of the main challenges today is the change in attitude of the parents. No more assuming the teacher is right and disciplining a kid. They blame the teachers. Just not the parental support that there used to be. I think they feel much more on an island today.

The only complaint I hear is about the parents who don’t give a schit about their kids. Won’t send lunch money but got their nails done and fancy hair doos when they come to pick them up for getting suspended.

Because it's union. And that's really not a jab at unions, I'm just saying it's the narrative that teachers are fed over and over and over and over and over and over and over by the union (I call it more of an education PAC than a union).

My sister is a teacher (I guess for about 20 years now?), and she's like a cross between a parrot and a broken record, Lord she'll share a "poor pitiful teachers" Facebook post in a heartbeat. Jlbuc10 is really saying the same thing, it's the norm to complain about the woes of your own industry, and the union narratives they are fed just become all they know to talk about.

And it seems like every starry-eyed, naive sweetheart girl wants to be a teacher when they grow up. Dealing with kids is not easy, heck I barely like my own, so I think the real world hits them after a while and that's when the complaining begins.

My wife is a teacher, shes been teaching for 6 years, last year she was ready to quit due to a terrible class. this year it seems much better. There are a lot of shitty parents out there, and most dont realize until they see it first hand. Little Johnny would never do that, he's the greatest kid in the world. A lot of parents that have kids that are in the 1st to 3rd grade just give the kids an ipad and let them go. There's not a lot of structure in the household, and a lot of kids run all over their parents. when they get into school and have to have some structure they don't know how to handle it, resulting in terrible behavior. This is what i have come to gather over the last 6 years.

My wife has been a teacher for over 31 years. The hours they work doesn't stop at school hours. They take their job home with them, pay for supplies out of their own pockets and have to be baby sitters for some of the kids. Parents today don't teach their kids at home like years past. These kids are raised on tv,cell phones and video games. Then there are the " my kid would never do that " type and won't allow discipline. These disrupt the whole class. Teachers do not get paid enough, get enough respect,or have enough off time. Next to parents a teacher will spend more time with your child than anyone else. They attempt to prepare the kids for life and shape their warped minds. When college arrives the liberal professors destroy it all.

Wouldn’t you be mad dealing with that many kids everyday as your job and not able to whip a single one of em?

I've been a PE teacher for 23 years. You won't hear me complain too much. I get to hunt alot because of my job. Classroom teachers have one of the worst jobs around and it all revolves around crappy parenting and crappy kids. Also, many schools systems will not discipline like they should. I had a kid mash their finger in the bathroom yesterday and broke his finger. The mom cussed me like a dog and said I should have been watching him. Stupid.

Yeah.....so you can be accused of being a pedophile for watching little boys in the bathroom. That sounds like a win/win situation.

This pretty much sums it up, the whole problem with the world today.

I think teaching is perfect for people with kids. friends of mine get much more family time than we get with our kids. if they're feeling slighted they should figure out their hourly pay from the time they walk in and out of the school and subtract lunch, like punching a clock. I bet they make more than a lot of us on an hourly basis.

i listened to a retirement seminar and most of the people who had grown their retirement to over 1 million dollars were secondary ed teachers. maybe not in this state, but teachers nonetheless.
