The sad part, he is probably about to win the iron bowl.
AU will not fire him after that. I agree. If a win means keeping Gus and a loss means Gus is gone who does the serious AU fans pull for? ONLY these 2 options because not watching or pulling for anyone will be the obvious pick. In that case, ROW TAHD

I don't know about now, but his (Steele) mom was living in Prattville when he took the Auburn job. So, it may not be strictly a business decision to stay or go. It may be a business decision, depending on whether he has enough years to be vested in the state retirement system. Otherwise, I would get the hell outta Auburn before next season if I were Kevin. Based on what I've seen, Bama needs a new DC. Steele could stay in the state retirement system, work under the best coach in the business, be successful and probably help Bama win another Natty. Plus all the AU fans would get to see one of "their guys" be highly successful. I'm 100% positive they'd be rooting for both his and Bama's success every weekend.

Lots of rumors out today that Gus may not make it to the Iron Bowl. Keep wishing. Gus will be calling the plays and running the show on the plains for at least next year and hopefully longer.

I look at the big picture. We are pretty good this year and great on defense. Our biggest problems on offense are having true freshmen as our best QB and running back. While I think both are going to be very good, they are freshmen and weren't ready. Williams was allowed to grow during the season but Nix was thrown into the fire which he shouldn't have been, which leads me to my biggest gripe with Gus. Teams should not have to play freshmen at QB unless they are just already exceptional talents that can handle it. Auburn had to play Nix or Gatewood (who by all indications wasn't ready) Which shows a problem with recruiting. Why do we have such a huge gap in QBs being ready to play? That is on the coaches, particlularly the head coach.
Now I don't think Gus is as bad as some like to make out, but he hasn't been good enough to be great, which is his problem. My question is, when fans are calling for your head with every loss, is there anyone out there that is better that wants to come and deal with that? If Arky wants him, maybe that is best for him at this point. I'm fine with that. I'm also fine if those responsible for his huge buyout (not the students or regular alumni) want to pony up and fire him. It's their money. Don't put it on the backs of anyone else though.
As for me, I'll support my team as well as I can for the next two weeks and then worry about what will happen. All the dissension only serves as a distraction to the team, and I don't want to be a part of that.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

This Iron Bowl will be historic. The bammers are rooting forAuburn and the Aubies are rooting for bammer. I guess if Auburn wins there will be a bunch of Bama hats and jersey clad fans rolling Toomer’s Corner.
We THOUGHT men marrying men and a Muslim president was a sign the end was near. Now with this, we KNOW the end in near.

All kidding aside, I really hate it for the young men who have committed to play for Auburn. I'm not going to root for the Tahd, but it ain't gonna hurt my feelings if they give Gus a swift kick in the azz and help him out the door. I'll be cheering our boys on, and if they win I'll be happy for them...and I'll still want to see that stupid Sumbitch Gus run outta town.

I'm nervous as a cut coon over this Iron Bowl. Auburn has the gift of absolutely stupid GOOD luck when it matters the most in this game.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

What is Gus' current buyout situation? If AU fires him, they owe $27 million and half of that within 30 days. If he leaves, he owes Auburn $7 million.
