The biased polling has already started. I have had two calls lately requesting a minute of my time to participate in a political poll. Both of them were very similar, was I a registered republican or democrat, my age bracket, and on a scale of 1 to 5 what would I rate President Trump's term. I said republican, age bracket 50 to 70 and a 5 job rating . Both times they said that they had too many samples in my age bracket and hung up. They biased the poll and eliminated my opinion.

They may have been conducting a poll of presidential approval based on demographics. They likely had enough responses in your age range to cover the sample size but not enough in another one of the brackets. Presidential polls past the state level are worthless IMO. It’s not a popular vote for that office and polling participant location is a lot of times excluded when dealing with national polls. A sample size of roughly 3000 people can usually get close on the popular vote but doesn’t account for the electoral college.

Tell them in Alabama you just register to vote, not as a Democrat or Republican.

One of the glorious things about numbers is you can manipulate them to say whatever you want to say, and most people don't have the common sense or care to realize they are not factual.

Years ago at this company where I was working I questioned a quarterly report on profit and loss. Being the department general manager plus my commission was based upon this report I ran my own numbers and I knew that there was some funny math to skew the numbers from corporate office. So I called my boss, the vice president of the company to talk to him about it and I'll never forget what he told me. He said," liars make good accountants and accountants make good liars." No offense to any of you accountants on here but I thought that was a pretty good analysis of what was going on.

You get the results you want by selecting the sample that you think will give you the answer you seek. That's why I never pay attention to any polls. Polls are like statistics, choose your samples carefully and get the result you were after in the first place.

If they do indeed have too many samples in your bracket, that ought to tell them something. Not what they want to hear, but something.
