I’m hunting Bankhead National Forest this morning. I’m set up on edge of 12 year old pine bedding area. I’m barely into the hardwoods about 30 yards. 3 trails meet up right here and it’s just perfect for a buck to be scent checking while cruising. It’s that magical time of year for the big boys out here to start doing there thing..........

G/H please add date to subject title. I use this as a reference sometimes looking back.

I’m out for my third hunt this season. I’m one for two. Hoping to make it two for three today. Love to kill coyote I’ve got running around.

Walked in at 5:00 this morning to setup in a ground blind just below a bluff where we’ve been seeing 3 bucks most mornings. My dad got one the other morning but I’m hoping the big boy comes by this morning.

Pulled in to park the truck and the landowner apparently hosted a campout with a bunch of nonhunters. Turning the truck around and headed back home, I guess. slap

No good this morning. Old sign will not produce deer. When hunting public land you must scout every week, because they will move on you. slap

Did not find her. Arrow only went in about 4 inches. Meat and hair in the broadhead. We followed specs of blood for 100 yards then it stopped. We did a grid search to neighbors property line then we called it. Still trying to get that first bow kill. Gonna stick with the bow all season until it happens.

I heard 1 shot about 7am. The rest of the shooting was at the rifle range and it was a lot of it.

No good trees to climb on the down wind side of the field I wanted to be on so I’m sitting on the ground. There’s 2 bucks in here I would shoot. It’ll be interesting to see if I can pull this off from the ground.

Hanging in the saddle with my recurve. Sitting on a narrow strip field that’s just starting to come up but has water oaks dropping in it that they are hammering. Just had does all over me but I was trying to hold out for one particular old one. She stayed up in the woods about 50yds and never would come out. Maybe they’ll come back through again before dark.

On my small plot have been getting some pictures. Hopefully something comes by within range.
