got the itch for a new truck and came across a 2017 Z71, black with all the stuff I'd like. Anybody had any issues with this year?

I bought one in April, had only 11,000 miles on it. Has great power, night and day more powerful than my 2012 z71. The truck gets great fuel mileage and rides well. Now for the bad, the only thing and I mean the only thing I don’t like is that the rear end makes a lot of racket when going over small bumps like going across my field. It’s a common problem supposedly, but mine seems to be caused by axle end play. Chevy dealership greased the leaf springs as that is supposed to alleviate the problem but it ain’t really helped. Love the truck otherwise, but when you test drive it, listen and cruise slow speeds over bumps and while turning for excessive noise. Hope this helps!

Gundoc I believe had a 17 he sent down the river because the transmission was acting odd.

I have a 17 Z71 now, that I am really happy with

The 16 I had had I got rid of because it was a double cab and I wanted a crew cab.

The 14 I had sucked. It had a vibration that it took rebuilding the rear end to get rid of, as well as a software issue that cause the power steering to not work properly. There was a recall for the software problem, but I got tired of messing with that truck, and let them have it back.

I know of the sound the OP is talking about it. Greasing the rear springs per the TSB doesn't get rid of

I’ve got 65k miles of my 17. Rear suspension is squeaky for sure. Transmission shifts hard from time to time but the dealership says nothing is wrong with it. The electronic power steering went out, the brake vacuum pump locked up (was pulling tractor and trailer brakes saved my butt) and the nav screen goes blank sometimes when I receive or make a call. Other than that it’s been a great truck 😂😂

Going to a 3/4 ton next go around. Leaning Ford

Greasing the leaf springs. That's gotta be a magic trick for a service department. After all the R&D that's done (or maybe lack of) before a new model is produced and sold, it's later learned that the leaf springs have to be greased to stop noise? That's comical.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Or just buy a Ram (Fiat) and be done with it. I have driven 3 total since 2004, over 500,000 miles, and they been almost trouble free. Tires, brakes, batteries, and one fuel pump.

See? I went ahead and said Fiat to steal your thunder.

I'm thinking that's one of those "free rotation with our 10 point maintenance check" scams.
The tech comes in and very sincerely explains why they need to flush the fuel system, change the brake fluid and grease the springs.

I've been looking at a black Z71 and may be the same one your looking at and its a nice truck. You can buy Teflon pads to go in between the leafs to stop squeaking so don't won't about that.

Wife drives one. Bought it new. About 90k miles so far. Transmission does shift hard when it's cold and the navigation screen is starting to act up but she likes it and I like the way it drives too. Plenty of power. Pulled my camper with it when I moved it from the camp this summer and it pulled it great.

Have an 18. I haven’t had any problems with squeaky rear end. I’ve got 34,000 on mine and have had 0 problems. This is the 4th GM trick or SUV I’ve had in the last 16 years and the only three things I’ve had to do to any of them was one fuel pump in an 03 Tahoe under warranty, a transmission rebuild in an 04 Z71 at 180,000 miles (probably from pulling a horse trailer with it to much) and a water pump in the Z71. Sold the Tahoe with 220,000 on it and the next guy had to replace the transmission. Sold the Z71 with 235,000 and it is still running fine. Still have a 10 Yukon with 180,000 miles with no problems and the 18
