Ok guy I have a serious question about deer appetite
When deer rise to feed do they have a preference of what they eat first like acorns or grasses ? When they’re ready to bed is their preference any different?
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

I think they’re individuals with some preferring one food source while others prefer something different. Naturally as winter sets in and food becomes more and more scarce they become less picky.

I think they consume a lot of what they do based on nutritional needs at the time. It's gonna be a little different for males and females and the time of year. It's also a matter of what's available and what isn't

Deer show preferences depending on need and availability. I wouldn’t look at nutritional requirements changing from bedding to standing. They change seasonally, not by the hour. I'm putting my stock in what the biologist says...

A deer's nose tells them what to eat.

The deer do prefer a plant grown in fertile soil over the same exact specie grown in harsh unbalanced soil. I think it probably has something to do with a thing called BRIX…..It’s probably more palable and nutrient rich at the same time. Kind of like how home grown tomatoes are almost always better then store bought,,,,It’s how they were grown and what they were grown in.
