My mom was a Marine, and dad was in the Army. That said, neither of them ever encouraged me or my brother to join. I wish I had. Now I work for the Army, and I see firsthand the sacrifices our soldiers make. Makes me proud to be an American, and I am proud to go to work everyday to do my part.
Jesus... I hope you know Him personally like I do.

Wish I’d served.
My dad was kinda adamant that my brother and I not join. He was at Ia Drang in Vietnam and saw a lot of good friends die.
He joined. Was not drafted. It broke out after he joined.
He’d get fighting mad, slap the taste out of your mouth, if we talked about joining.
I had a very similar experience. My dad was in Vietnam. It was very tough on him. I had recruiters calling me constantly. That is until my dad answered the phone. I’m not sure what all he told them, but they stopped calling.

He’s talking to JohnnyLoco. The only one who’s said something stupid on this thread so far. Johnny actually spoke the truth. This was not the appropriate thread to post that particular opinion, and I question his stats (because I don't think it's really 75%) but he's right, nonetheless.
