Popeye’s Chicken has been associated with violence since the 70’s. In fact I’ve used some of the Popeye’s Mardi Gras Combat tactics to save my life, specifically the “foot stomp, and elbow from below”. Most of you won’t know what the heck I’m talking about, just like most of my other life experiences, true nonetheless. Anyway, some of you will remember when the violence started back when they would throw Popeyes Doubloons worth free chicken at Mardi Gras Parades starting in the 70’s. Many folk received injuries and got their butts kicked because of them. I think the green ones were extra special but they came in different colors, Mobile & New Orleans.

I live on the North side of Chicago in a nice neighborhood (Lincoln Park) so we don’t have too many pigmentally gifted Popeyes customers. My local Popeyes is staffed 100% with Hispanic people , and I don’t speak Spanish. I ordered three of their Spicy Chicken Sandwiches last week (to go), and they were delicious. The bun was fresh and tasty, and the Chicken breast itself was a generous size. The sauce had a definite kick, but I liked it a lot. For the price, it was a good value. I’ll order it again.

One thing I'll say for Chik-Fil-A, everyone that I've seen work there was clean, friendly and devoid of neck tattoos, dreadlocks and gold teef.

I love how many say finding good help is impossible, but somehow a fried chicken restaurant has consistently amazing employees because they pay a bit above average and have a culture that tolerates nothing less. Tough yup, impossible nope.

Never been a Chickfillet fan. I agree with their policies but their chicken is extremely ordinary. I much prefer popeyes or churches.

Tried the famous sandwich Thursday and wasn't impressed. Wife got family meal Saturday.... terrible. The food I've had before was good3. Especially the spicy chicken. The meal we got has 0 flavor. Want be back to that Gurley location.

Never been a Chickfillet fan. I agree with their policies but their chicken is extremely ordinary. I much prefer popeyes or churches. Yeah. Chick Fillets owner is a well known supporter of conservative causes. And that's great. So am I. But out of support for the guys politics a lot of people vastly and I do mean VASTLY over rate the food from Chick Fillet. I can't claim to have eaten a chicken sandwich from every place that serves one but I have eaten them from Chick Fillet and about half a dozen other places. I'd rate Chick Fillet near the bottom of the list. Never had one from Popeyes.

Chick fil e shakes are good and I’ll eat one of their market salads. Never been a fan of any chicken sandwich. If I really want fried chicken I gotta hit KFC for that comfort food of my youth. Unless I’m in Chattanooga then it’s off to Dodd’s ave for some lazy Susan style B’s.

I don't get the hate for Popeye's chicken...it's really good fried chicken and superior to it's chicken competition, especially the spicy. I completely understand not caring for certain clientele and an individual store that is poorly managed. Chick-fil-a has mastered fast food from process to consistency to franchise to employees. Gold Standard. Their original and spicy chicken sammich are both good. But their other actual chicken choices isn't the same category as Popeye's, KFC or Church's....meaning they don't sell bone in fried chicken with sides. Chick-fil-a is a sammich and nuggets restaurant..with some healthy options too like grilled and wraps, etc. Not the same. I love Popeye's (imagine that ). But I don't visit cereal stores.
