Well, I guess I'm a ghey, look at me type that buys into the hype. I have - well until recently had - 2 rifle in 6.5 CM. I didn't buy bought the first one because I wanted to see what it was about. The second I bought because I like the 6.5 and hunting ammo for the .260 just wasn't as easy to find and when you did find it, it was higher than a giraffe's ass.
My real "pet" round though is 7-08. Don't ask me why though, other than time and paper, I;ve never killed anything with it.
When I hunt, I usually grab a .30 something. I plan to change that this year though. I'll grab my flat billed hat, and my $400.00 cooler and my 6.5CM and head out...
Oh, wait, I can't do that. I only have a 6.5CM and a $40.00 igloo.
Don't own a flat billed hat, skinny jeans or crocs either They will send you the hat and skinny jeans when you send in the warranty card on your 6.5 Ghey.

I fell in love with short action calibers a few years ago. Attributes I like: * Light recoil. * Hard hitting. * Readily available, low cost ammo. Hate to say it, at the risk of being called ghey or whatever, but 6.5CM fits the bill. The 6.5 ammo is easier to find, less expensive, than 7-08.

I look cartridges no different than vehicles. Folks want to buy a 65k diesel pickup and never hook a trailer to it fine by me.. Buy a ZO6 Corvette and drive it to church, or heck buys a Prius or green electric car. I don’t care to each his own. I myself love experimenting with different calibers as any gun enthusiast would. Has the Creedmoor’s been Over hyped absolutely but mostly for marketing purposes. Do I think it’s a good round absolutely. Do I think the CM’s are any better as a round the 6mm rem or 260rem not really. But it’s all fun to sit back watch the bickering. I agree. Nothing really wrong with a 6.5 creed, but it really doesn't do much, if anything, that wasn't already done by the 6.5 Swede or the .260 Remington. I was so turned off by the over-hype and stupid claims by some of the "Tommy Tactical" types when I was helping my buddy run a gun store, that I will probably never own one, and you can bet he won't either. We alternately referred to those jackwagons as Tommy Tactical or Mil-Spec Monkeys. Then someone actually started a company called Mil-Spec Monkey.

243, 270, 30-30, 30-06, and 308 are all fine deer guns. i would add .7mm-08 to this list, as well

You know 12.7x108mm it is the perfect round of eliminating Hadji goat herds preferably in a DShk/Yota Pickup combination. I know a 5.56 is probably the best goat caliber on the planet but when those little bassturds get to running around in circles when you start firing you can walk the tracers right in there on them and the height in the back of the pickup lets you shoot over a rise without exposing the entire vehicle to their little asses.
Don't understand why everyone's got to hate on it.

Calibers are like women. Some people just prefer different ones. Frankly I like them all and tried as many as I could until I settled with my favorite.

Except it had more guns produced in the first year than the other 2 had in the previous 15 years combined. Availability played a huge role in the Creedmoor success. When is the last time you saw a new rifle on the shelves in either 260 or 6.5 Sweede? Maybe the mid to late 90s.[/quote] Not too hard to find a 260 or Swede rifle If you're looking in the right places. https://www.eurooptic.com/sako-bavarian-65x55-swede-jrsbv51.aspx

Actually, it took a number of years for it to get there. First year for the creed was 2007, and as recently as 2013, it was #69 on the ammo sales list, 9 places behind 7mm-08, and 11 spots behind the 6.5 Swede. That same year, .243 was #21 on the list, .270 was #19, and .308 was #8.
Regarding rifle sales, Kimber didn't add a 6.5 creed to it's lineup until 2015. Not sure on other makers.
Again, the overhype has resulted in lots of folks buying the creed, rather than higher performance. A quick check at Buds shows that there are still .260 and 6.5 Swede rifles available new, and that the Creedmoor is not available in as many models as .243 Winchester.
I'm sure the hype machine will continue to drive more creed sales, and I'm equally sure that I will not contribute to them. If all I ever hunted was whitetail deer, I would rather have a .257 Roberts.

Hey Huck, where'd you find those numbers? That's interesting , I'd like to see the whole list.
