Past 3 years I’ve been doing pond management on my pond for the future for my kids. Today went down goofing off pulled some skip jack outta the freezer hoping to hook into a good blue I’ve put in in years past... Buddy and little brother caught 3 6-8 pound channels and I said I was going for moby dick... right before we left my pond I hooked into em 20-25 lbr. 10-15 minutes and a good 3 minute revive and he lived to see another day.

That’s a big blue for a pond. I put a couple cooler loads of blues in a little farm pond . About three years later the valve collapsed and it drained . They where all roughly the same size and their eyes where bulging and head looked swollen. Strange looking but all the channels I stocked with them where much bigger and healthy. Figured the blues need flowing water.

Mines 2 acres and 16 ft at the dam. I was worried they wouldn’t survive from transporting them to the pond but boy was I wrong. My channels are 5-10 lb range I feed em all kinds of stuff plus floating pellets. The blues are super fat! My pond is about overran by bluegills though.
