Dear diary,
Jackpot!

Well, just imagine..... 3 weeks, no shower, in the woods...… I'll spare you all the details but there was nothing attractive about what we found that day...… scent wise or visually

While funny I bet that scared the $hit outta you..... I know the first time I saw something like that, that shouldn't be there I would have been slinging lead

It’s not near as strange as some of these stories, but while hunting a seemingly little known and not easy to access area on Wheeler last year I stumbled across a very strange abandoned site of some sort. There was what almost looked like a concrete cellar hole/foundation except it was way to small and appeared to have a bench cast in place at the bottom. There was what I can only guess was a well hole with a fairly substantial structure built around it and there were rotted out galvanized washtubs strewn all around, probably close to a dozen total. It’s all old enough that there’s no evidence of any wood structures, but new enough that concrete and metal wash tubs existed.

This is more than a mile walk from the closest road, but within sight of the water. Anyone ever stumbled across this themselves?

Here's the rock pile I mentioned....found WAY off the beaten path on public land. It was a bit taller than me. At first glance it looked like the remnants of an old wall or structure, but it wasn't just one "layer" thick, like you'd expect a wall to be, if that makes sense. And it appeared to have been there a while.

Well sethjamtoe, sorry that I didn’t have the time to entertain you but I’m at work and just don’t have the time to tell bedtime stories. Run along and play and maybe tonight I’ll find time to write you a story.

maybe, but one would think there'd be other remnants if it was part of a larger structure, but I couldn't really find any (unless it was long enough ago that they rotted away)

Well I’ve found the following:
A few marijuana patches
A 12’ aluminum boat that still looked new
Several old dismantled moonshine stills
A burned vehicle
Some kind of small missile with a wire out the back of it (Redstone Arsenal)
Arrowheads
Pieces of Indian pottery

Nothing too exciting. Like someone else in this thread I found a balloon with a picture of a young black man and an RIP message on it. Kinda like a floating memorial thing. It had an address on it, so I kindly put it in an envelope and sent it back to the family.

I believe it's the remnants of a fireplace. I've got one in a greenfield on some property I hunt. There are no other parts of the structure except the fireplace.

I got a good one from just this past weekend!

So my son and I are getting ready to leave Barbour Co midday Sunday. As we’re about to leave Hunter tells me he forgot something in the stand, so we take off to go get it. We turn on the dirt county road our land is on and make our way to the gate. We come around a curve and I see a car in the road and a big 350 lb black dudes ass. Soon as I come around the curve he starts fishing for his basketball shorts and pulling them up. He heads for his car and I see another person sprawled across the trunk in a pink ballerina outfit frizzy pink skirt and all. She had to roll off the trunk because she easily had 100 more lbs than the dude. She gets in her car and takes off and he slow rolls by with them big white teeth grinning at us. My son and I were dying laughing.

In the middle of the day on a county road. SMH

No, it’s actually on the other side of wheeler, not too far from the arsenal. The water close by isn’t the Tennessee River proper, but some backwater of it.
