My family will be coming to Decatur this weekend for Childrens Honor Choir. My daughter made honors choir for Bay Springs Baptist in Dothan. Any recommendations for good grub?
Maybe meet some fine folks from ALDEER.

I work in Decatur. For BBQ try Big Bob Gibson's Its a local legend and really world renown for Winning BBQ cookoffs. There is one on 6th ave. and one down Danville road that runs beside the mall. For a quick lunch go downtown to Penn's Hamburgers ( Grease Burgers), and theres the Brick Deli close. Also on 6th ave near the river try B.B. Perrin's. Other than that all main food chains can be found on the Betline. Hope this helps.

Libby's out 67 South, top of Priceville Mt. good catfish and other things. BB Perrins good BBQ and best honey mustard on a salad you will ever eat. McCollums Catfish is good. What are you looking to eat?

Never got all the excitement about Big Bobs other than their pies. Pork is as plain as can be. Chicken is good and stew is good.

Man those hushpuppies are something else. I always liked the original Greenbrier restaurant a lot better than the one on the interstate. Big Bob's is good but I would take the drive to Greenbrier if I had to choose.

My suggestion is BB Perrin's for BBQ in Decatur. The BBQ gumbo is excellent!

Seth Whitts is not Whitts any more. Its still a bbq joint the name escapes me right now, but there a couple of Whitts in Decatur. IMO there pork is way better than Gibsons. But not as good as mine! old Greenbrier is usually good and you are right about the hushpuppies. If you are wanting steak the Wagon Wheel out Hwy 24 is good. Kyoto Japanese Steak House is really good too.

Did you really just recomend Penns Hamburgers?? Remember he will be driving alot this weekend Im sure he wont want to make that many stops or ride hom with the windows down.
Big Bobs is good but Greenbriar is much better and its just a 10min drive.

Simp McGees on Bank St or Curry's just off of Bank St if you're looking for a little higher end menu. I've always enjoyed both.

Wentzels is good. Their cheese grits are excellent and remind me of South West GA eating fresh fish and oysters.

"Remember When" out near Trinity off of McEntire Lane cooks a real good steak for a very fair price.

I'd go to any of these places if I wanted a sit down meal. Gibsons, Benny's old place, and the like are good for lunch if you are in Decatur for a softball tourney and really need to get back to the fields.

Trust me on this. I'm fat with good reason.

dang, i haven't paid attention the last couple of times I was up the. I grew up on there Alabama style pulled pork sandwich. You had to get it with the slaw to make it right.
