I'm looking to upgrade from a whisker biscuit to a drop-away and have been looking at the QAD's. Amazon has the "hunter" model for $55ish, while the HDX is in the $120ish range. What is the practical difference in the 2? Is there really $60-70 difference? Would the cheaper one still be a substantial upgrade over the Whisker Biscuit?
Also, is it something I can install myself or does it require some sort of know-how?
what say y'all?

I'll check it out......in your opinion, what makes it worth the $50 more than the QAD? I've never used drop-aways, so I'm new to all of this...

The QAD you’re asking about is their cheapest model. The windage and elevation are controlled by one screw and can be a royal pain to set up correctly. As mentioned above, it has nothing to prevent the launcher from bouncing back. The Virtus is cheaper than the QAD HDX. HHA copied a lot from the QAD but improved on the design. Their tolerances are tighter and there is no side to side movement on the launcher arm. They also improved the cord attachment point so it’s easier to micro adjust the cord length to time it and also replace it if need be. With the way the cord attaches to the QAD, the screw will cut the cord if you loosen and tighten it a few times. I started shooting the QAD’s in 2007 and swapped over to the Virtus rests a couple of years ago. To me they are quieter than the QAD’s. There’s two archery accessories you do not skimp on, arrow rests and releases. Spend the extra $50 and get a good quality rest.
