Picked up a .50 cal stainless encore with a 4x12x40 BDC Nikon. I have never shot a muzzleloader before. What are y’all shooting? It is a 209 primer, but other than that I have no clue what to get to sight it in.

Hornady SST 250 grain bullets, 110 grains of Blackhorn 209, Winchester 209 shot shell primers.
That's the recipe I cook with in mine.
Deadly accurate.

I also shoot 110 g of the Blackhorn 209 with Winchester primers, but I shoot the Barnes bullets. Very accurate combo in my gun and will knock a big ole hole in a deer.

No to high jack but is the blackhorn a better choice of powder than the pellets? No Please hijack! I am ignorant of these weapons! All info appreciated! Lol In my opinion, there is not a better propellant on the market than Blackhorn 209. Easy to use, multiple shots without barrel swabbing, not as highly corrosive as other propellants, and super easy to clean up. After I found Blackhorn 209 I have never looked back.

I like using the 3 pellets and the 250 T/C bullets in my Encore. Very accurate and easy to reload quickly.

You can’t beat BH209. For me, I shoot 120 grains BH209, with a 250 grain T/C Shockwave bullet. Very deadly combination in my Encore.

I like the BH 209 also but have found it to be subject to hangfire so what I do to combat this is open my flash hole up to .030 and add 20 grains of 777 to 90 grains of BH209 pushing a 300 grain Harvester Scorpion I get very good accuracy with this combo
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be
