I need Aldeer to break a tie for me. I'm getting a set of one of these tires. Which one would you buy and why?
1. BFG All Terrain T/A KO2
2. Goodyear Wrangler All Terrain Adventure with Kevlar
Warranty is about the same. Price is the same after Goodyear rebate.

They're going on an f150. If go Toyo I will have to go up to a 285, which I may like better actually... Now yall got me all messed up. lol
I bought it with the goodyears on it and with 60k miles the tread is fair. They have always when a little slick in the rain though.

I swapped to Wrangler. Much better traction but they ride rough, and will not balance properly. I will be looking for something else next time. That was my gripe w' Wranglers. Been w' Michelin ever since

I got a set of the extreme AT2's on a 2500 and should easily get 50k out of them. I would think 60k would be easy on the lighter F150. Have like them. My last set was BFG and they dry rotted at 30k miles. I was the third person that I know it happened to. Ive said it here before and wont be buying anymore BFG unless I have to.

Mavis manager recommends Nitto's for my next set when ready of course shop owners/managers recommend Nitto's........they're like $1500+ for a set of average size 1/2 ton truck tires...

I have those wranglers on my k5. They are very good in the mud but loud on the pavement. They have been on there for 6 or 7 years i guess and still look new with deep tread but I don’t drive many miles

I don't know what size you priced but you can get 4 285/70r17 nitto trail graperss for about half that. I just had to replace one that got cut and blew out and I paid 187 plus tax from walmart.com. $15 bucks for mounting and balance. With that said, I had one get a knot or bubble in it a few months ago and had to replace it too. I bought this truck used with the tires on it so I don't know how old they are but I have had it 3 years and they were about worn out anyway.

I wouldn't put either on my truck. I ran BFG for several sets, they were a good tire for a long time, but seem to have fallen off. Also, there are so many newer tires that are better now.
The last set of BFGs I had wore out quickly and had no traction on wet ground. I have had bfg on work trucks and personal trucks for 10 years. Mud grip and all terrain. Something has changed with the last 2 sets. The first time it happened I thought I just got a bad set. But everyone has said their quality has dropped. They cup and wear out quicker than ever. Something happened. I just don’t know what.

My current bfg’s have a little under 75k miles and i plan to get another 8-10k out of them. I’ve never had the wet pavement trouble but maybe i have an older set. I bought them like 2.5 years ago

I still don’t believe anyone can get out 80,000 miles out of a set of mud or all terrain tires and still have usable tread for mud or all terrain usage. can’t...more like driving on them until the tire man says it’s time. I’m a little over 60k on bfg on a sequoia and it is a lil slippery, at times. I definitely won’t point it where I would on new treads! due a set before season starts.

Well of course not, but they're still safely driveable tires. I don't think anybody here is claiming that they maintain their offroad performance over 70 or 80 thousand miles.

Prices vary a lot by size. 285 55/R20 ridge grappler was $338 when I looked yesterday on several sites.

Those higher prices are for LT rated tires, not P rated tires. Nope, I went with P rated, not LT, because I don't tow anything heavier than a 4 wheeler. Size is 275/60/20.

Also, that walmart price is not their "out the door" price....it doesn't include mounting/balancing or disposing of the old tires or tax.

glad I still have 16 inch rims. save $ on tires and performance reasons. can get load E tires for cheaper than you guys buying car tires on 18 and 20 inch rims. plus I don't have to cry about my rims when my wife hits a curb. I was getting wife's tires balanced Monday n 2 were warped...dont understand how that happens on a 3 yr old vehicle

Does any tire ad include all that? I am sure we all know you pay tax and they charged me 15.26 per tire total to mount, balance, and haul off the old tire. My whole point after your first post was to clear up that nitto tires in general don't cost any more than most other truck tires. I don't doubt you were quoted the prices you posted I just wanted to correct the broad statement you made because I bought 2 tires of that brand in the last few weeks. Hell, I don't even recommend nittos or walmart, I just went back with what I had because I only needed 1 tire at the time and walmart is 10 minutes away.

The Falkens that I used as an example were $893 out the door, so that included mounting/balancing/disposal and tax. The Toyo's and Nitto's were going to be $1400/$1500, out the door. In other words, comparing apples to apples, the Toyo's/Nitto's in the same size were going to be at least 55% more. Also, you were comparing tires for a 17" rim to tires for a 20" rim, which as pointed out above, makes a huge difference. So, to say "Nitto tires in general don't cost any more than most other truck tires" is just incorrect.

Mavis manager recommends Nitto's for my next set when ready of course shop owners/managers recommend Nitto's........they're like $1500+ for a set of average size 1/2 ton truck tires... Here's your original post. It says nothing about 20 inch rims or out the door prices. I drive an average 1/2 ton pickup. Mine were 220 and change out the door. 880 is a long way from 1500 plus. You were incorrect. Carry on.

You were incorrect. Carry on. you clearly didn't read the follow-up post where I answered your question where you asked what size tires I was looking at, but I personally paid $893 out the door for a set of Falkens - 275/60/20......I still have the invoice in my glove box. The same shop quoted me $1400-1500 out the door for the Toyos/Nittos that I originally planned on purchasing, and other shops in town were within $100 of the same price on the same tires. I don't doubt that you paid $880 for your tires if they were for a 17" rim - my last truck had 17" rims and I remember tires being considerably cheaper - but I suspect the Falkens in YOUR tire size would've probably been even cheaper...but who knows.... Either way, 16-17" rims are becoming less and less common, as more and more manufacturers are going to 18-20" rims. You trying to compare what you paid for 17" rim tires to what I paid and was quoted for 20" rim tires as some sort of evidence that the tires aren't nearly as expensive as I said they were is an invalid argument. If you can't see why that argument doesn't hold water, then nothing I say is going to make you understand. Either way, I'm not going to continue hijacking the OP's thread to argue with someone on the internet over something so stupid and irrelevant.

I will never put All Terrain tires on my four wheel drive truck again. I wish that I had brought the Nitto Ridge Grapplers like I wanted to in lieu of the Michelin AT’s.
