Sounds like you need to start keeping a gun in your truck.

If you have seen him, I'm betting you're not the only one. He'll be dead or gone long before the rut. You need to come up with a plan before someone else whacks him

Have someone push him off the hill while you’re in your gto ready and waiting. It’s not against the law to hit one with a vehicle 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'd go right after most of the leaves fall or right after gun season opens to pick my set-up and mark the tree I'd be climbing in January. Actually I'd pick a few trees so that on the morning when the time is right, I'd be ready for whatever wind and or be ready to change my plans according to whatever fresh sign I found on the way in. I'd make sure it was a cold day when I went to look and move slowly so as not to sweat. Rubber boots and gloves would be a must just in case he is already using the area. Some will say you will mess it up going in ahead of time, but it won't mess it up anywhere near as bad as fumbling around in the dark looking for the perfect set-up on the morning you plan to hunt him. I'd hunt pretty high if the canopy will allow it. By the way, you know what happens if you walk in scouting without a weapon don't you?

Good advice Muncher. Slip in give it a quick look and find a couple of trees, so you want be fumbling in the dark and climb wrong. You want every t crossed and every i dotted the first time you hunt the spot.
