Any of yall got a good solution to override this stupid system and permanently disable it? I see a few different options on google but all seem to have mixed reviews. Any first hand experience here?

You would think it would be reversed to where you could activate it if you wanted it. It is irritating to me too.

In 5 years we won’t be able to buy a new pick up worth having with all the crap they are having to put on them.

You can manually turn it off but you have to do it every time you start the truck. So I never remember until I go to a stop sign or red light. Not a huge deal but still annoying

I didn’t know mine did it until after I bought it. Called the salesman back and told him it brought back memories of a Ford I had in the early 80’s. He said why? I said I can’t keep it running at stop lights either

Simple. There’s a button on the dash you push to deactivate it.

One things for sure. Manufacturers would stop putting this crap in vehicles if people stopped buying them. Don’t matter what the government mandates, money always dictates

I'll have to look tomorrow to see if I can disable that feature permanently. I'm almost positive it can be done, without altering anything.

Always heard the system deactivates when it has a trailer hooked up. Might could just put a cut trailer lights plug into the receptor and work it that way. Kinda silly but should work

It will but it will also deactivate reverse sensors, blind spot monitoring systems, and remind you every single time you fire it up that a trailer is connected, and the aforementioned are disabled. It will work, but not ideal.

Many options. That product will work, Forscan will work, and there is also a wire lead and connector coming off the negative terminal that can be disconnected. This disables the "smart" battery monitoring, which will also disabled the engine start/stop. from someone smarter than me: "Disabling the current sensor turns the battery state-of-charge management off, effectively returning the truck to an "old school" alternator configuration where they simply chase voltage. This may mean a very minor drop in fuel economy, as well as potentially slightly reduced performance (since, with the SoC management in place, they can effectively disable the alternator at WOT, reducing load on the motor)". I don't think that's the best option, as you can go in with Forscan and disable JUST the auto start stop in the body control module, without affecting anything else.

Government emissions regulations are really starting to get ridiculous. I guarantee you there's more wear on an engine starting 500 times a day than some minuscule amount of gas burned at a stop light. Means folks will have to buy a new truck sooner. And then there's tractors...

I've heard multiple stories about farmers having to have a "mechanic" come out to work on a tractor, and he shows up in khakis with no tools other than a laptop.......ridiculous is an understatement.

There are 3 certainties in an uncertain world:

I know that it's probably not a big deal for most folks, but the idea that I could be on my land, working on my tractor, and not be able to turn off my tractor at the exact moment I want (regen cycle) pisses me off. I've got a tier III tractor for that reason. Sorry to derail thread laugh

Because burning more fuel to reduce emissions makes perfect sense.

When did GMC start putting that on them? I have never heard one cut off at a traffic light. I know my 18 doesn't have that on it.

I don’t even have a key either. Now that’s what really pisses me off. I can handle the auto shutoff with a button. I can’t stand not having a truck key

I don’t even have a key either. Now that’s what really pisses me off. I can handle the auto shutoff with a button. I can’t stand not having a truck key

wow; there's no hole for a key on the door at all? a lot of FOB's have a key hidden inside ... wild! that'd piss me off too

What happens when you fall into the duck hole with your keys in your pocket and the battery shorts out, or goes dead? You get to walk home with hypothermia?

It’s got a weird lil key for door that is. But what I like to do is park in my truck roll the key to middle position and listen to radio while watching to shoot a deer. Or my fob thing may be upstairs and I need run somewhere. Used to be I left key in my truck 24/7. Not anymore

The most dangerous part about an automatic cut off, is that it'll automatically cut back on. There have been several recent cases of people pulling in their garage, put car in park, car shuts off. They close the garage door and go inside and go to bed. Car turns back on and kills the people inside from carbon monoxide. If you don't believe me, look it up.

The car cuts itself off at a traffic light or stop sign and then turns itself back on when you push the gas. Kind of like a gas golf cart.

I don't know about the F150, but on the Grand Cherokee you could avoid the auto-off by not depressing the brake pedal all the way to the floor as you came to a stop. It didn't have a button to disable it, though. I can't imagine anyone liking this feature.

Forscan will do it.

https://forscan.org

You'll need to read up on using it. I've done it before for my 2016 F150 to change up various things in the ECM. It's pretty good tool.

Heres the guides on how to use it. You'll need the extended license (free) to do it, plus an OBDII reader to connect to your laptop (under $30 on Amazon).

https://forscan.org/howto.html

Here is a spreadsheet of all the codes and things that can be done. Auto start/stop is the first one listed.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...FGFHnfeuhb3RTMVz95730/edit#gid=815852466

Please read the instructions on how to use this program though. It's simple, but you CAN mess up if you change the wrong code in the ECM.

I have a new Ford Explorer for work that has a key fob only. Last week I ran down the road to grab a few things at CVS. When I went to get back in the truck the door unlock wouldn’t work. Forgot about the tiny door key in the fob. So I remembered that I had the door card code in my wallet and opened up the door. The dash message read no key was detected. So I started thumbing through the owners manual trying to see how to start this damn thing without a key. And then I remembered at the dealer the other month when I picked it up the salesman showed me that inside the center console is a little slot you put the fob in and it will start. And it did .

Only thing that I could figure is my cell phone, hotel key card and fob all in the same pocket made it go haywire.
