Is very hard to find right now. Anybody know what the heck is going on with that? Lots of Hornady ammo out there so I may have to make a switch.

Limited run. They only make so much per year. You can buy it off Federals website.

Try the 123g SST if you haven't. Im not a fan of SST's at speeds above 3k but it works well below. It shoots better than the AMAX in mine. I have some 100g Partitions bullets I bought to see exactly how fast i could push them but haven't had the chance to load anything in a while.

I bet that 100gr Partition would be extremely comfortable for kids and extremely lethal on deer.

I was able to order some from academy. I will be getting a couple boxes of the SSTs to try. Not a big fan of the plastic tipped bullets but everything is see or read is positive about them.

Both of my Grendels shoot the 123 SST's very well and I have taken Sitka Blacktails with them. With that said, I haven't purchased any lately but have heard some recent runs had accuracy issues in some guns. The issues I've read about probably won't be an issue in hunting situations. More info is available on the 6.5 Grendel Forum.

For info, factory 123's are averaging about 2460 at the muzzle in my 18" gun and 2225 out of my 12" tube.

I shoot plastic tipped bullets in just about everything now. I'm a firm believer in monolithic bullets for the most part. I've pushed some Barnes TTSX at above 3450fps in a 25-06 without issue and currently shooting a 150g out of a 7mag at 3300. Don't be scared of the tips, the bullet construction is the key.

With that being said any true ballistic tip is fine in speeds of 2800 and below. Fast speeds will definitely cause jacket separation though.
