Best method for reducing the population. Currently trapping when I can. Removed 25 or so in the last 9 months but have not made a dent. Any other methods beside dog proof traps that yall recommend?

Give cliff a key to the gate and coordinates to all feeders. He will thin them out in a few visits.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Pour Golden marlin fly bait from Tractor supply and a 20oz bottle of coke or grape cola in a pie plate.... it hunts while you are at home, and you don't have to go check the trap every mirning. Works really well, they won't be very far from the bait station. Have never had a deer touch the toxic mixture

Why put this "out there" for whoever wants to see it. Not only is what you're doing illegal it's also unethical!

See if I was the Lowndes Co. game warden I'd be watching the Mt. Willing hunting club 10 miles South of Hayneville of hwy 21 now.

It took me about 2 minutes to get that info and your phone number from your previous post on this site!

Just to elaborate on North40's post, since malrin is an insecticide, it's covered by the FIFRA law. If they decide to hit someone with federal charges for misuse, be prepared to be substantially lighter in the wallet and possibly do federal time. Research the guys on the Georgia plantation that killed the eagle with Temik a number of years ago.

It may be effective, but as North40 said very unethical and illegal.

My what research skills you have, North40...... maybe u should do a little more research and see there are thousands of videos about this same subject on the web. Free for everyone to see. It doesn't mean that you have to do it, because as you pointed out, it is illegal. However, IMO it seems more ethical than executing an animal that is defenseless and unable to get away from you because it has been caught in a leg trap for hours.

Having never tried either method I don't know which works best, but the OP already stated that the DP traps weren't being effective. I was simply offering a suggestion that was passed along to me by a land owner friend of mine, who told me that it was extremely effective and would not effect the deer. Thanks to the AlDeer prosecution team, I now know that I made a mistake posting this info for "whoever wants to see it"

If I catch someone's dog in my foothold trap I let it go with a sore foot for a few hours. If someone's pet gets in a pie plate full of flybait it ain't coming home. Or any other animal you weren't intending to kill. Just because it's not likely to hurt the deer population doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Ben2 that’s a lot of coon killing you’re doing. Good going. I’m a little more than half that and still getting them on camera. Just feel like I’m out stinking up the place too much with baiting and checking often in the summer.
