I gave it another go this morning, but didn’t see any deer from the tree. My next hunt won’t be until a couple weeks from now on Fort Knox. Hoping to run across a good one up there. Y’all be safe when you hunt, and I’ll be checking in to see if y’all post any kills.

Leaving out for Missouri tomorrow morning at 4:00am. I'll give it a go for 4-5 days and then up to KY for the rifle opener in a couple of weekends. One of the two should produce some points for the team.

It has been slow so far, lots of fresh scrapes and rubs popping up but still mostly night tine activity. Good cold front moving in this evening and tomorrow should be good.

No luck in MO, matures bucks are in the verge of busting loose but still moving at night. I will get in a hunt or two at my property in Marengo County this weekend then off to KY next weekend for the rifle season.

Alright fella’s, by the grace of God I managed to put my tag on a brute 10 pt. from Fort Knox that’ll score in the high 150’s. I’m very thankful to have him. With the new rules where you get the extra point(s), I’m not sure if we get a point for spread “and” a point for tines over 6”, or if it’s just one or the other. Regardless, I think we’ll get either 16 or 17 points for this one.

This is my biggest buck to date, and I am thrilled to have him! It’s gonna be a looong wait until that taxidermist tells me he’s ready!

Got a little bit of bad news fellas - Ive got to have knee surgery to fix a torn meniscus Friday morning. Yep, the day before gun season opens in Bama.... how about that timing? The good news is this surgery isn’t anywhere near as complicated as an ACL or MCL repair, so I “should” be back 100% by early January. That’s what I’m hoping/praying for anyway. Y’all keep me in your prayers Fr. morning.

I am going ML hunting Wednesday! Fat does better watch out, or else that smokepole will be belching fire!

Claims, in regards to the age of the buck I killed.......I didn’t have the jawbone or anything pulled, but I’m pretty sure he was 3.5, weighed 190 which is pretty typical for a MO 3yo. Scored 134”

I appreciate you asking. I’m doing much better than I thought I would. Doc says everything went well during surgery, and recovery shouldn’t last too long. I’m taking it easy and not overdoing it. I should be good to go in Jan.

Typical... go hunt when you say “buck only” and see a bunch of does. Go for anything, and no deer at all. I hunted Friday and saw zero, didn’t hunt Saturday, and now am getting rained out for Monday. Might try Th. though. I’ll definitely kill a few does this year.

I’ll get a doe one way or another even if I have to break out the smoke pole.

Last sit of the season for me fellas! Haven’t been but a few times the past few weekends, didn’t get to go as much this season as usual with a new baby but that ok. I’ve enjoyed the family time and can’t wait till he gets big enough to get in the woods with me! My daughter used to go a little but she never feel in love with it and that fine because I don’t wanna make them do anything they don’t enjoy. Best of luck to y’all the rest of season and maybe we’ll be on the same team again next year!

I got another one a couple weeks ago but he won't do me any good as an upgrade.

Trying to keep an eye on the points, I can take a doe this weekend if we need it.

Well here’s proof that lightning can strike twice! Seriously, we were fortunate last year for all of us to get paired up... having a team full of guys who actually hunt is key to being successful with this.

From looking at SJ’s and WEMO’s locations (plus mine) it would appear we are spread out all across the state (from Mobile to Huntsville). That would probably prevent us from ever getting together for lunch. That said, if any of you guys are ever up in HuntsVegas then shoot me a PM the day before and we’ll see if we can’t make lunch happen.
